N80IE Settings problem

Recently flashed to IE (4.0632.0.38, 13-10-2006, RM-92, Nokia N80 (01))using NSU - with a lot of help from this forum. Now when I go to open the Settings menu and try to open the "Call" settings it just returns to the main menu. The same happens when I'm switching between the tabs in the Settings folder and I go through the Calls tab.

I have Truphone installed. Could this be causing it?

If anybody is gonna be able to help me it's you guys!

Cheers.

I have alot of trouble with truphone also, but my phone slows down and sometimes freezes...I only use it now when I need to make a free call ..

well... it could be summat to do with truphone, or maybe the problem you had with the broken update??

It could possibly shift via a few restarts or alternatively, running the update to see if anything else is avaialble... I had a problem updating from v3 to v4 with wifi that rectified it after reinstalling

I'll try reflashing it again and see if that helps. I'll take off the Truphone stuff too, see if that helps. I'll let you know how it goes...

Thanks for the replies guys! Muchos appreciated!

Err ok, it's now official I'm an idiot and should be subject to house arrest. I had the default call setting as "Internet", not "Cellular". Found that out as I was removing Truphone.

I don't think I deserve this N80IE anymore!!

(Seriously, I can reflash my phone, but can't manage the settings? I'm a disgrace!)

Not a complete idiot. Truphone sets Internet as the default when you install it but does not tell you. Mine was also set to internet which I didnt know as most of the time I'm not in a wifi area. Seems a bit strange as when you make a call you have the options to choose what sort of call you make if you go via the option menu in contact rather than just pressing the call button.

Hi there -

i upgraded my N80 to the N80IE successfully, and have been using it fine for a few days - after using the wireless for a while this morning trying to set up fring and Gizmo, i noticed that the call and hangup (red/green) buttons no longer did anything, i don't know if this was as a result of the upgrade or not - so i switched the phone off and on again to reset it, now it doesn't turn on again - it just says nokia on the screen and does nothing - the backlight comes on if you push any buttons but nothing happens -

I've tried taking the battery out and putting it back in, and starting it in safe mode - neither works, anyone experienced this or has any suggestions urgently??? i'm a bit worried!!

Thanks!

ok I have the same problem as the OP now (if i go 'settings'- 'call' it goes back to main menu). he said the problem is solved by changing the default call type from "Internet" to "Cellular", but where is this setting? (i would expect it to be in 'settings'- 'call' but i cant go there, Lol.)

Ive sorted it (did a while ago but didnt get round to posting) as i suspected you can change the default call type in the section it wont let you in, but the settings are also in the 'internet tel'- 'options' -'settings'- 'prefered call type' 'cellular'.
