Screen type of N80...

Hi,

I recently purchased Nokia N80 IE and I had no problems with the device. One thing I am curious about is the screen type of this device. Is it TFT?

I belive all of the N series and the most recent phones from Nokia has TFT screen. But a friend of mine told me that N80 screen is nor TFT. He owns a N73 and he says N73 is TFT. I've checked Nokia's site and specifications of all Nseries phones and some say TFT on the features list and some say Active Matrix. ... I'm confused. Can some of you guys enlighten me?

When in power saving mode, the screen of N80 is grey(ish). Like the rest of nokias. But N73 turns black. Am I wrong?

If there really are a difference (TFT - Active Matrix), can you post which model has which? Only Nseries is sufficient.

Thanks in advance...

Active matrix and TFT are the same thing

Active matrix. Also known as thin-film transistor (TFT) LCDs, because they have tiny transistors at every liquid crystal cell, Active-matrix transistors are used to turn the cell on or off. Because of the technology used, these panels are more expensive to make than passive-matrix LCDs. The upside is that the images are sharper, and the cells respond faster, making the displays suitable for moving images.

The Nokia N80 screen is TFT Matrix... so you can tell your mate to stick it in his pipe!! 😉

Its is active matrix...it is TFT, the terms are interchangable.

Thank you guys. By the way, are you competing with each other on the first/fastest reply? 😊

Ok. TFT and Active Matrix are the same thing. Then is it the structure of N73 screen to turn black on power saving? I observed this myself. Can you shed some light on that?

And also if TFT and Active Matrix are the same thing then all of the Nseries phones and S60 v2/v3 phones has TFT then?
