I have an Orange N80 that I had flashed to Generic N80ie 5 days ago. The upgrade went ok & have been using the phone fine until today.
I used the phone this morning then left it for an hour, When I went back to it 'Insert Sim' was displayed, Even though it was in. So I powered off/on. Now the phone wont boot past the 'Nokia' sign and will stay there, I cannot turn the phone off unless I remove the battery.
The strange thing is, If I remove the Orange sim the phone boots up fine in Offline mode!
So do you think its my sim card thats at fault? If it is how can I revert back to the orange firmware before I ring them up?
Do you think that maybe orange have disabled my sim as I have change the firmware?
Thanks in advance.
it might just be the connection or your sim. You can try getting a rubber and gently rubbing the sim chip to remove static/clean it...
see if that works... your not going to be able to get the Orange branding back tho so far as I know... I wouldnt worry about it tho... they must have had soooo many N80's back they probably dont even check them now!

Orange wouldnt have disabled your sim, and they wouldnt know if you changed your firmware.
Sounds like a faulty sim to me, can you try in another phone, or try somebody elses sim .. you will definately know then if its the sim or the phone ??
Just phone up orange and tell them that you lost your sim and they will send another one out to you
Thanks for your speedy replies!
I will try the rubber suggestion. I cannot easily get hold of an Orange sim & the phone is locked to orange.
I had tried a P & G o2 sim but got a sim error fault.
Will let you know how I get on
Thanks.
