Hi guys...i know this could be a long shot but could any hardcore nokia user happen to have any idea how to get my messages restored from the backup?
I'm using a N80 and decided today was a good day to try out the firmware update facility on the Nokia site. Little did i know, even after following all the instructions and after the reassurances from the site that my sms' would be backed up, the restoration process after the update (successful) was only partial and i'm missing not some but ALL of my 800+ messages. This is a problem because those messages actually contain important stuff for me.
More details are that, most of the phone and memory card items have been restored but at the end of the log it said "content not restored - full backup". Also, during the supposed restoration process the progress bar jumped from 66% to 73% to 99% and completion! There must be something wrong here...please...i'm really at my wits end...can someone please please please help???
"Q: I have backed up my phone. Then I got new software for my phone and now I'm trying to restore the backup to my phone. All information except for short messages (SMSs) are restored.
A:
This problem might occur if you are using an S60 or S80 phone (like a Nokia Nseries phone, Nokia Eseries phone, Nokia 6630). These phone models require a support file to be installed on the phone to enable SMS handling.
You can install the needed support file by opening File Manager and by selecting your phone folder -> Messages -> Inbox. Follow the instructions on your phone. After succesfull installation, restart the restore process.
