Getting rid of orphaned email account

2 replies · 2,334 views · Started 29 January 2007

Hi!

I have deleted an email account on my 6630, but something went wrong. The mailbox which I deleted still shows up under "Messages" and I am reminded that I have 211 unread messages when I switch on the phone.

My problem is: That mailbox does not show up under Messages -> Options -> Email anymore.

So I think I am probably down to editing some config files using FExplorer. Now does anyone know what files to look for and delete to get rid of these?

I have done a backup of the phone and searched the .NBU file in a hex editor for some strings. I found them in the file c:\data\cbs\cbtopicsmsgs.dat. But I cannot delete that file.

Interesting enough, I have done a trick to rename it, which seemed to work. It got got created again when I booted the phone, now being much smaller. But I still cannot delete the renamed file and I still get that "211 unread messages" when I boot the phone.

This starts to look like Vodoo to me.

Anyone any ideas?

Regards,
Torsten

Hello,

Has there been any response to this? The same exact thing happened to me when I added my gmail account.

I have the same problem - after using "Mobile Mail". Very annoying. Well similar...

Under "Messaging" I see "Mobile Mail", but the ICOn is a question mark.
Under options/settings/email/mailboxes this account is not listed.
The mobile mail software is no longer installed
I can not delete messages in this account either.

Still hunting on how to remove the account definition.
