Can anyone tell me how I can save all my SMS, both sent and receive, to the computer? I know that someone said there are two softwares for it, can anyone give me the name of the software? And someone said that you can save it to MMC, is that your SD card? Can someone please provide more details on this. I really need to save the messages and I need to bring the phone to be fixed and I think they will install a new software to the phone. Thanks.

you can use PCSuite yeah, or you can use a card reader for your MMC (yeah, thats your miniSD card) and copy them from that to a safe folder on your PC.

The file browser software you might be talking about would be Y-Browser and Sexplorer. Google them.

You have an option in your message settings about which memory to use, if you change to MMC your new messages will be stored there. Then if you need to you can take them from the phone.... I dont know if this transfers your current messages in the later f/w, I know it didnt in v.3

Thanks for your help. If my messages are saved in the phone memory right now. Does this mean that the only way that I can keep the messages is to transfer it by using PC Suite? If so, is there any folder that the messages are saved in? I have not use PC Suite before. Thanks.

the only ways to transfer SMS stored on your handset is to sms them elsewhere.

If you want to use your PC too tho, you can use PCSuite, to drag the SMS's on to your PC.

You can then drag it back to the 'new phone' although on the test one I have just done its changed the 'from' name to something else. On the phone tho, it just look like its from noone.

when you open up PCSuite, there is an icon called MESSAGES. Clicking that connects PCSuite to the correct folder on your phone with messages in it.

Im not 100% on this fact Im about to say~: You need to transfer your SMS's back to the phone with the same version number PCSuite... so dont go getting another PCSuite version to try and send your messages back as it looks like it can cause issues.

Will I be able to read the messages on the computer when I use PC Suite to send it to the computer? What type of file are the messages saved as?

from memory, you open the file with Nokia Message reader.... so so long as you have PC Suite on your pc you can read the message.

Its a vmg file (from memory)

Hi I use Nokia Life Blog, this downloads all SMS Sent/Recived and also any Images and MMS messages I find it dead handy and also its easy to transfer messages back to the phone

Lifeblog's free and can be downloaded from Nokia's support pages.

I've been using it since the N80 was first released and have never had an issue with it (aside from my usual software gripe that I can't specify where the database of items is kept).

Wirelessly posted (Opera/8.01 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/2.0.4012/1633; en; U; ssr))

I instal lifeblog on pc, but it not run on pc. When run it shows-unable to initiate..... directx problem. lifeblog 1.7 needs directx 9.0b or higher, my pc 've 9.0c, AGP 64MB, I also try by lowering resolution. What causing this prob? Help plz. Thanks.
