offtopic, but i dont understand them😡
Binary codes suck
There are 10 types of people in this world - those who understand binary, and those who don't.
BHLC is available for Birthdays, Weddings and Bar Mitzvahs.
I'll get me coat.
lol but this is annoying the teacher gives us assigments on the first day of the semester
Edit: Eureka i think i understand some of it 😊
I'm a Computer Systems and Networking student and have had to learn Binary to pass a certain module on my course. I have kind of always had a fundemental understanding of binary.
Some people know that you can count up to 31 on just one hand, or 2047 on 2 hands. What most people don't realise is that its easier if you use Grey code.
Like most things it's just about practice, wait til you get to Octs and Hex, then you will wish you knew binary well!

I just use a calculator 😊..:turtle: :turtle:
Have a go at this
01100011 01100001 01110011 01101000 (can you tell what it is yet )
Heheh, in ASCII that would say cash. What you really want is 01000011 for the first letter so that it is Cash
Like you say, you can also use a calculator, or in Windows, Calc
Win Key + r > calc > ok
then when it's loaded
view > scientific
Then use the Dec, and Bin radio buttons to switch numbers from Decimal to Binary, or back.
knuckleskin what modules were you learning? Im up to cisco module 1 and it just has a overview of it but i do understand some of the binaries now😊

Damn those capital letters 😊..
OK - I did maths / computers a few years ago and frankly I forgot most things ... but I have never ever figured out the point of binary in real life ... that said I would quite like one of those clocks ... despite the geekyness of them ... in fact I am sure theres probably one for the phone as a screensaver (off topic, fring worked for me)

I have a binary clock on my phone 😊..
Reading things off in binary is pretty useful, particularly in the communications field. If you raster a binary stream or data chunk in visual form you'll understand why - Imagine a black pixel representing a 1, and white a 0 (or the other way round, doesn't matter). An example might be a multiplexer, if you raster it at varying widths, eventually you'll come across its frame width and you'll see a nice little sync pattern running down your display. Handy for identification of unknown data streams. Think of bar codes if you can't picture what I mean.
Encryption, shift registers, error correction, signalling codes, RADAR... Perhaps to state the obvious (forgive me), there are millions of systems (not just computers) that use binary, mathmatics is a far more interesting field outside the school environment.
If you do any network analysis, looking at binary can be helpful - generally it's much easier if you convert to hex first, but one can distinguish patterns after a short while in either format.

I lost you at "Reading"

knuckleskin got it right, although he did pick up on my bad use of English (as always)
Alright i downloaded some video mentors for cisco and they are in 6 zipped files containing bin files. Do i need to burn the files to a cd?
Alright binary is a joke now😊, how would you change a mac adress(08:04:ac:bd and ca:09:bd:f2) to decimal and binary?
anybody? freaking google is a waste
