N73 Sat Nav Help !
what about a good receiver ? thanks
BT-77, great value and good operation. Readily available on eBay.
I've got a Nokia LD-3W and it's great. It comes with a Nokia car charger which also fits your phone (meaning the device will also fit your wall charger). When you reach your destination or the phone leaves the car it goes into 'sleep' mode. When you get back in at automatically pairs up again and gets a sat fix really quickly. I paid about 50 new for mine off ebay which is prob about 15 more than some others think the brand, compatible charger and sleep function are well worth it.
Nokia are releasing a free software solution this Saturday. I would post the link, but haven't made enough posts yet for that privilege. The website for theregister (a "co" in the "uk"😉 is running this news today.
You may also want to look at Amaze
You could also try nav4all. Do a Google search
Well no sign of the smart2go software being available yet. It was supposed to be downloadable from yesterday.
Reading the Nokia press release I can't make any sense of this "free" satnav software and maps that you have to "buy" a timed licence to use. Is it free or isn't it?

And Now I am considered Linkworthy here are the proper jobs for smart2go:
Nav4All is worth checking out too. IMHO, TomTom is still the best.
Nokia Smart2go is now available
To Download Maps using the Maploader put the phone into Mass Storage Mode.
First impression of Nokia's Smart2go is that TomTom has nothing to worry about. In fact this first offering of satnav from Nokia will most probably boost TomTom sales.
As I am using the software without paying for the navigation "add ons" I can not really give an informed comment on the full product. What really hits home on the freeby version is that the maps are a tad out of date, no option to select direction of travel/ north for top of screen, only 2 choices of map colours, very basic GPS info and lack of Compass info.
No doubt the hackers will have a field day with Smart2go and enable Nokia to turn it into useful software..Until then TomTom at £85 remains a quality product a BARGAIN.
