Hi folks
first thing to say is thanks for the great site, now my question relates to the music videos, i have noticed that most of the video's i see for download are for playing on smartmovie, unfortunately i cant use these clips on my phone as they are not compatible to play on my video ringtone program that i put on the phone, this will only play 3gp, mpeg & mp4 video files, i have tried to convert some videos from smartmovie avi to mpeg using nero recode but they dont come out very well & keep stuttering the video & sound, does anyone else have any idea on what to use and how to do it???
p.s have tried SUPER also and that still fails!!!
thanks pete 😉
In my personal opinion Super is a load of crock, I have never had a successful batch of files converted.
What I would do in your situation is download the movie clip from your favourite source, so for a music video a good bet would be YouTube or Google. Try http://javimoya.com/blog/youtube_en.php to download it in to the FLV format.
Then I would recommend using ImToo's 3GP video converter, it does a mighty fine job, the non-registered version only does 20minutes of video. I would highly recommend registering it, it is (ironically) far superiour than Super.
Put in your favourite settings for your N80, e.g:
Video
Video Codec: mpeg4
Video Size: 352x288
Bit Rate: 512
Everything else should be set to defaults.
Audio
Audio Codec: mpeg4aac
Bit Rate: 48
Sample Rate: 44100
And then if you want it in stereo or not.
Everything else to defaults.
I don't know if these are the best settings, but they look good and they work. Always remember that your output is going to be as good as your input.
thanks for that, when you say the trial version only does 20 mins, is that 20 mins per clip or 20 mins in total????
Can't say if Super is the best out there, but it has given me pretty good results. Here's a screencap of the settings I use.
I don't use this any more though, I've switched over to DivX Player. 😊
KiN.
[Edit: Remember to change the framerate to your video's framerate.]
thanks guys i will try the converter later, but please remember that these are smart movie avi's, i think these are encoded a strange way, which is why you need the player on your phone to play them, im pretty sure that i have converted normal avi clips before without any problems, its just the damn smart movie clip 😡
Allok mp4 conveter includes avi. converting. But if im trying to convert a movie i would rather use the smartmovie converter for the better quality but its really slow
Hi knuckleskin
i downloaded this last night and tried it out but only very quickly, seemed to do a good job, the only problem is that the original smart movie avi was 3.4Mb, the converted 3gp file is over 13Mb, i would really like to keep the file size about the same but not loose too much quality, any ideas on the settings????
thanks pete

Divx player works great. Now, I convert everything to xvid and watch it in my phone.
thanks but you are not reading the question properly, i dont want to convert the files so i can watch them, i need them converted into MP4,MPEG or 3GP so they will play as a video ringtone on my phone, these are the only files types that the program will play so converting to Xvid wont help me.
