Hello everyone,
it might be a stupid question but, what should happen when the GPS receiver is connected with the N80? Should the tomtom nav run on your phone? I'm wondering because I see the GPS connected via bluetooth but nothing happens!
The blue light on the GPS device is still which means there is no connection between the devices right?
What I should do to make the navigator run on the phone?
And one more question.. does the n80 have an nmea protocol or not? Does it affect the compability with the GPS device?
Please i need your help:frown: I'm desperate to make it works! :banghead:

This might be a stupid reply but have you
paired the device with your phone?
Asked the tom tom software to use this device rather than tom tom default?
The GPS device will power up normally but unless it gets a signal to seek a big tin box in the sky it wont do much 😞
Start up tom tom first get it to use the specific device it should then work with no real issue 😊

I did paired the device but I have no idea how to ask the tom sftw to use the device:redface:
How can I start up tomtom first? getting into tools - file manager - and then... there are too many folders!! Sorry I'm ignorant when it comes to technology.
Thanks for your help!😊
I think when you first set up tom tom it asks you what kind of gps you want to use
Acctually i am not sure , but what i know is that there is an interference between the frequencies of Bluetooth and GPS
both running 2.4 GHz freuquency

On the official TomTom buetooth GPS Receiver, as steady blue light means the unit is powered up but has not yet acquired a valid signal from the satellites.
A flashing blue light shows there is a valid GPS signal being received.
There is no way to tell from the lights on the receiver if it has paired with a phone or other bluethooth device.
TomTom6 on the N80 should find the official TomTom receiver there's no need to pair it - but in the TomTom software, you need to tell it that you have the official TomTom receiver and not a generic model.
When you first start tomtom in the bottom left of the screen if you have no device paired it will say No GPS device! If you start the tomtom application and go to change preferences/show GPS status it will show if your GPS is connected and also signal strength from each of the satelites in range. If it does not show any signal go to configure and select either tomtom bluetooth GPS receiver or other bluetooth GPS receiver dependent on what you have. It will then search for your device (make sure your GPS device is on first). When it find it ( it will search for all bluetooth devices including other phones/computers etc. so make sure you select the right one). Once selected enter the code for your GPS receiver ( this is normally 0000 but your instruction manual should tell you) and this will pair tomtom with your GPS receiver. That it job done!
-menu
-(5) change preferances
-left twice (or right/next 3 times)
-(1) gps status
-configure
-choose you receiver
-enter pin (if needed)
-rock and roll!
-note your receiver will take a while to get a lock onto the satalites 45 secs is normal, can take longer first time (and the longer its been turned off and if you have changed position since you turned it off), it needs a clear view of the sky to get a lock and locks better when stationary.
(mohsh86: note gps is nearer to 1.5ghz not 2.4Ghz)
