DISPLAY BRIGHTNESS???

18 replies · 3,586 views · Started 20 December 2002

my father bought himself a 7650 too, and when i looked at his phone, the display seemed to be much brighter (my display looked darker and more yellow) eventhough we both have the same setup.. "contrast" and "sensor = max" etc..

is it something wrong with my phone, or some setting ive forgot?

thanks...

I read that the european regions have a slightly yellowish display while the asians have bright white. Dunno if it's been confirmed though, maybe cause your dad's is still "new"? 😊

My precious have white backlight. Precious is bought in Singapore... Anyone's precious backlight is white also as in Asian set?

Mine is white background. Brightens up a movie house when it rings, even in silent mode. 😃

it could be that my fathers phone is brand new. but i bought mine a month ago, so its isnt really old 😊

hmm.. confused.. i didnt really think about it before i saw that other phone.. but i really wish the display on my phone could get that white one day..

I may suggest you bring your Precious down to nearest Nokia Care Centre to have a check out. Don't forget about the warrenty card

I don't know about Asian markets, but in Finland I have seen 7650's that have a very minimal lighting vs. bright lighting.

It seems to me that the first phones to reach market are much "darker" than the ones released later on. Perhaps they decided to change components at some point.

My Precious was bought from StarHub by the previous ower. Backlight has a slight yellowish tinge to it. Not as white as on my iPAQ 3970 😊

So tempted to send it back for firmware update... if only I knew what the current is.... in Singapore 😊

Here in Australia, 2 out of 4 7650's i used had a "White" Bightness. But i liked the slightly mellowed yellowish glow better. White looked almost garish :-?

Well, there's nothing "Wrong" with these different displays. These minor variations cannot be eliminated. And, as Magic Marker pointed out, they in all probability stem from different makers or batches of Displays.

i think i have seen both colored displays i guess. i think i got the yellow 1.
but who cares there more to the phone thn the damn brightness yea ?

OUCH!!!! I was off my guard. I should have known better after i busted Muffy

😃 😃

i noticed something similar with phones i've have owned in tha past, such as on the 8310 or 6210, when i saw someone elses, the light produced by the leds varied on the 2 phones. The lighting difference was more noticeable on the 8310 which had white lights. My display looked 'pinker' than my friends which was a purer white. Other people i spoke to had darker lighting resulting in a 'greyish' display although, these phones used leds.

I have this question regarding the display backlight. If I set the sensor to max, will it affect the battery life? vs. turning it "off"?

Thanks.
