I am not sure where to post this so if someone knows a better place, let me know.
In the US Daylight Savings Time will be in effect for a longer period of time starting in 2007. Does anyone know if the firmware in the E-series devices knows how to deal with this or are we on our own?
Thanks,
Fred
I should think it does, if the US of A hasn't recently changed the rules/logic of when the change(s) take place.

They have. Starting this year DST will start three weeks earlier and end one week later. I tried to post a link to the wikipedia entry regarding the Energy Policy Act of 2005 but I have not made enough posts yet. So, either you will have to trust me or look it up on your own. Sorry.
There is surprisingly little chatter about the effects of this but I suspect it will be insidious.

Here is the link on DST
See "Observation of DST"
They do like to make their own rules up for everything...
Bump.
This is getting serious. The new DST rules go into effect this weekend and Nokia had posted a fix but took it down just as quickly.
Anybody have any words of wisdom?

Well it shouldn't be too awful - the way i see it...
Best case - you get your phone to update it's clock from the network, in which case it will be up to date
Worse case you have to manually change the clock by an hour.
Am I missing something?

Is a link I gleamed off of the E61 Blog - though obviously it's from an unofficial site so if you install it it's your perogative etc. Best do a backup first 😉

No wisdom, just unhappiness!
My E61 is set to update over the network (auto-update), is set for "local time" zone, and is an hour off as of yesterday.
A fix is required... 8-(
Malc.
does the link i supplied not work?
There is a new time zone updater on the Nokia support website but when I try and install it says not supported! Anyone else get this to work?

i don't have any upgrades done to my E61 and it changed automatically and i checked am not on the network time
Note that you have to go online on your S60 device before the auto-update works. I think it's an S60 bug 8-(
