:con? Not exactly complete restoration, I think. After update FW and restore, you will still find some softwares coded in number in App. Mgr. which are indicated as not installed. OK, again some of those you can reinstall right away from option, however, few of them will get corrupted. Now, you can remove them at this step under their own name. Finally, you have to re-install them from their original sources. Anyway, you may have to register your application again, since they are treated as new installation. :icon14:

THANK you! But what software should I use to back up ? the Phone builtin backup or the Pc Suit back up?

Do both PC Suite and the phones own backup.

Its darned irritating that neither of them truly does a "full" backup of the phone, and you've got to move everything back. The backup worked exactly the same on the old SX1, so S60 hasn't moved on at all in some ways since v6.1.

I just updated mine a couple of days back (5th firmware update in 4 months!), and had a painful process of having to delete the apps that wouldn't re-install (write down the names of the apps as they appear in the app manager, then put memory card into card reader, and delete the relevant folders and .sis files in the private folder).

Its not so bad though, I've cut down to the bare minimum of apps now, save my 2gig card for camera and music.
