I have a 2Gb miniSD card in my N80, it works no problem. I can fill it up and access all the files on it with the file manager.
When using the music player though not all my music updates into the library. In the music library you can press 'music library details', it says free mem on card 1Gb/1Gb (just formatted card). i guess this is why not all the music updates when I have 2Gb of music on the phone.
Has anyone else noticed this problem? Do you know a workaround for it? Or any thoughts on a better music player?
I'm going to try updating to N80ie, but i doubt very much this will solve the issue.

You have to manually update some music into the music library, you can do this in settings ..
I cannot find how to do this. In the music player i have no settings menu. In the phone settings there is no music player menu...
If you know the steps to do it, could you run me through them?

Goto music player > options > music library > options > update music library
Thats how i have been updating, however it will not add all my tracks.
It will add quite alot into the music library, but not all.
As i was saying in my first post, the music player only seems to think my memory card is 1Gb when it is actually 2.

Ok,
Where did you get your card ...was it from ebay by any chance ??, or did you get it from a shop or respected online retailer ?...ther have been many fake and faulty cards from ebay, probably about 90% of cards are fake or not good quality from ebay
it was from a retailer. Dabs.com i think. Its a corsair card so should be of a decent quality.
I take it no one else has seems to have this issue.
The card works outside of music player as 2Gb but music player only seems to see it as 1Gb.

Ok..I have run out of ideas, .. maybe somebody else here has had the same experience, I cant remember reading about it here though....do you know somebody else with another N80 you can try it in incase the card is faulty, just because it works in the PC doesnt mean it will work in your N*)..
Cash, cheers for showing an interest in my problem
unfortunatley i dont know anyone else with one yet.
The thing is that the N80 actually sees the card as a 2Gb card. its only the music player software that doesnt
in Tools --> memory
Memory card:
Capacity: 1914 Mb
I have never plugged the card into the PC directly, only within the phone.
I can use the card normally outside music player. Every other app can use the whole card, eg filemanager, y-browser, gallery.
If anyone has an N80 and a 2Gb miniSD card and you goto:
music player --> options --> music library --> options --> music library details
Under the 'Free mem on card' field what does it say?
mine is 1Gb/1Gb - thats on a formatted card, it doesnt have to be
i'm wondering if there is an issue with the software. I am running the latest verion of the firmware (updated last night)
hi
i have just checked mine and its the same, i have a 2gb card brought from orange when i got the phone, it shows 2gb in the phone but in the music player it only shows 1gb, never took much notice before

Cant help you there, I only have a 1GB card in my N80 ...
yep, mines the same... I have a 2Gb card and music player shows it up as a 1gb. Always has... music player sucks 😡
seems there is a fault in the music player software. Its a big issue for me as i use the phone now to replace my ipod which broke.
anyone know any other audio players for the n80. I had ogg player but, it seems to crash when adding tracks.
check your PM,
I didnt try these so let me know how you get on with them 😊..
cheers will try when i get home from work
Could you possiblly send me that pm, i'm having the same issues and am looking for a new music player? Cheers!

yeah, can we play guess the player... whilst not breaking the 'forum rules' 😉
I was going away this weekend, now snowed in... so i have TIME ON MY HANDS!! 😡
i want snow 😡, I tried xsound before but it never loaded up, I dont mind the normal n80 player. OGG play is good too
not had chance to try those players out yet. installed them, but on the same day my sd card broke. it will not format.
RMA'd it, but its gonna take a while
I have a 2GB memory card normally works ok, and does indeed show '450mb free/ 1GB' in the music library details.
I do probably have a little less than 1GB of MP3s on it at the moment tho.
Hmm I seem to have the same problem but I've filled my 2gb card with 1.5gb of music and it's all in the library even though the memory details in the library say I only have 556mb of 1gb left.
How weird!! Let me know if you guys find any decent music players, I don't like the nokia one much.

Ah. I really need one that plays wma - I don't really wanna be converting all my music!
Any tips anyone?
i like the look of the Viking Informatics Mp3Player, but not really had chance to try it yet with my sd card breaking. Only got 128Mb now.
The menu for accessing albums looks good. Seems to use folders rather than tags. Which is better for me, cos thats how i access my tunes on my PC.
This may or may not help you - but have you tried using a different method to fill your phone?
I downloaded some free software from thefilter.com and it picks music to go automatically onto your phone everytime you plug in your N80. Takes some setting up, but has really saved me time.
i have found that when adding tracks to my n80, the first time i added track i added about 80 tracks, and when i tried to update the songs in my phone it only added about 18, and it did not even find the rest, so i formatted the card, and now i always add 10 at a time and update the phone, and then add ten again, and it works for me, i have a 2gb card and use aac.
hope this helps
