'Disappearing' SD cards

My N80 seems to occationally not notice that the memory card is in. I have to take it out and put it in again for it to see it again.

It is a 2GB miniSD, pretty sure its genuine.

It wouldnt be too bad, only when ignoring memory card my MP3 ringtone is ignored also so I have to face the embarrasement of the default 'Nokia tune' going off in my pocket!

Is this a common problem with this phone? Or is it specifically a memory card problem? Anyone know anything to fix this?

Never happened to me, I have a 2GB card bought on ebay, almost full, absolutely no problems. Try the original card that came with the phone for a couple of days, and see if that does it as well.
