Just fancied doing a bit of housekeeping and decided to remove a few themes from my phone. I went in to the Application Manager and removed what I could find but there were a few Themes that remained in the Theme application and that didn't show up in the Application Manager. Most of these are Themes that reside in the phone memory but one or two are on the memory card.
Searching through the forum, I can only see references to removing themes from a memory card, and that's a bit of a bodge job !
This is bloody annoying. Any ideas ??
Thanks,
Rob.

That's fine if you want to remove stuff from the Memory Card, but I want to remove these themes from the Phone Memory.
try re-installing it at the phone memory then check your apps manager.. this trick sometimes work..

Why dont you just format the phone and start again mate, but next time put your themes on the sd card:icon14:

😉 As far as I know, there are two ways. First, connect phone as mass storage and find private folder in your phone memory similar to the one in MiniSD card. But this one will not work if you install application in card. The other, install the same original install sis file of your theme in phone memory again. This time you will find that paticular theme in app mgr then get rit of it. The cue is the file you re-install again must be the same original file. Otherwise, you will end up with 2 identical themes and you can remove only one. This sound stupid for a phone at this carlibur but this trick will work. :icon14:
Still waiting for official cure from Nokia. :icon13:
Well, I cured it.
A full phone format 😞
I guess it needed doing just as a housekeeping exercise, but it is a massive oversight on Nokia's part not to include this feature which has been present on all my previous Nokia Symbian phones. It's not a convenience thing either, or a feature that "would be nice", if you are unaware of this issue and you need to free up some phone memory, it could prove a major headache !
Anyway, eveything's back to normal now, albeit it a price.

How do you format the internal phone memory? Aren't yo going to loose all system files and OS installed in the phone?
Please explain. If this sound good then I might carry out a format on my phone.
thanks
To format, key in *#7370#
Before doing so, back up your phone memory to the memory card or to the PC using PC Suite.
Formatting wipes the memory, but does not remove the OS/Firmware.

I am confusing. Eventhough, you format phone memory and it comes back like new. When you restore phone memory back from previous back up. How can you avoid those ghost themes back into phone memory again? Since, I've done that already before and didn't work.:con?
And that's exactly the problem. Restoring the memory will just restore the problem. You will need to reformat the phone and reload everything manually. I used Sync to back up my contacts but I lost all my defaults, etc. Copy contents to your computer and manually replace everything. It's a pain and why I am so hacked off with this oversight by Nokia.
😡 Why and why and why, Nokia has not planed to implement some simple command in theme menu as "Remove" like they did before? Is it that hard to do that, isn't it? :icon13: :con? Hope our comments will reach our mighty Nokia Symbian designer. 😡
