i have some probs installing some programs, (tomtom,route66)
i have followed guides that say to drop the whole folder into the root folder on the SD (where that is i dont know!) take cable out and it should start to install (or restart??) i tried all folders manually on the SD and both the cable and restart methods,
BUT..
nothing happends ziltch nada nothing 😡
anyone got any ideas to help, it would be greatfully recived
the root folder is the master folder /first folder of the directories of the computer... so for example, the C drive on a regularly setup PC.
The root on your MMC is the highest level you can have... so when you transfer to the root on the MMC you are just putting it directly to the drive letter, rather than putting it into any folder.
You should therefore, copy the TT6 folder to the MMC and when the N80 starts it should start the installer and install TT.
so move it say to N(n80) folder with the phone turned off?
turn on and should start to install?

How you transferring it?? Via cable or via card reader or what??
It should create a couple of folders like raster, voices etc, I used winzip and just extracted all the files to the MMC
yeah, I installed mine to the MMC via card reader...
and there are a few dirs as Spetz says.
tried both cable and through the memcard slot in printer

i did notice a raster file earlier but still no auto install
are they the files you downloaded too??
i.e. are you following those steps completely or did you get tomtom from one place in instructions from there??
whats on your MMC... folder-wise..
TT6 (related) folders for me on MMC are:
2577
GB plus major rds
raster
resource/apps
tomtom
tomtom hometomtom cfg
voices
zip
then some files too...
if the .exe files not there for the OS to pick up to install then it aint gonna work...
again, if your missing some files thats gonna cause you probs too...

when you put them onto your card do you do it via data transfer option when the N80 connects?
also, once its on your phone can you click the red hands anywhere?
The best thing to possibly do would be to move the files on your MMC to your PC for safe keeping and format the MMC. Then transfer the files back with tomtom folders too.
you need MMC card with 252MB of free space.
yea i will giv it a try there aint nothing i dont need on memcard
also the red tomtom itm does not appear any where bar a pic in one of the files 😡

u have to put activation key after putting the files into the root, then install sis file

ok ignore my comment from 4 and a half hours ago i now have cracked it (wooo whooo yay me!) i did try a lot of duff setups guides ect out there but nothing compared to one totally in depth guide for numptys like me that i found buy accident complete with 200+mb of quick downloading files (google- N80 device id 🙄 all im saying) but i now have a working copy of tomtom6 on N80ie and GPSlim236 both which cost me nowt 😊
