Hidden in this otherwise boring press release about Nokia and Vodafone collaboration over S60 development is the statement that the software will appear this quarter on the S60 based Samsung SGH-i520 and even hints of more Samsung S60 devices in the future.

"We are thrilled to work with Vodafone and Nokia in introducing leading-edge smartphones to European customers. I'm very proud to introduce SGH-i520, which will be our first model built on S60 with all of the latest multimedia features and high speed data connectivity (HSDPA). It is very exciting to lead the trend towards open mobile software platforms with these leading brands. Starting with i520, we will introduce further enhanced lineup based on S60 with Samsung's differentiated multimedia features," said Chul-hwan Lee, Senior Vice President of Mobile R&D Team, Samsung Electronics. Samsung's SGH-i520 will be available to Vodafone customers during the first quarter of this year.

i rarely find a phone i really like and when this one came to view i was excited and pleased that it was coming on the market, although for a phone to be first spoken about in october of 2006 to still not come to the market for whatever reason is really just not good enough, it makes me quite angry that places like vodafone are advertising it but for roughly 2 months have 'not had it in stock' does anyone have any kind of date that the phone is likely to be purchasable in the uk?
