Here is a little description of what happened to me

My Girlfriend called me to setup her new ADSL Internet service at her home and i thought at last i will be able to download songs, Surf the web, VoIP, etc with my N80 IE at her house. But... SURPRISE NO WIFI ROUTER!!!!!!!!! 😡

So a question came to my head IS THERE ANY USB DEVICE THAT CAN CREATE AN ACCESS POINT JUST LIKE THE NINTENDO'S DS ONE???

Hope u can help me.

Dx

yes you can do it of any "usb wireless wifi adaptor" -this is whats referred to as an 'adhoc' network rather than 'infrastructure'. its commonly used to connect two laptops together etc, but you can share internet. the disadvantages i found are:

-the host machine has to be turned on
-if the host machine has a firewall things can get stuck there (eg you need to go click ok on the host machine)
-range isnt as good (and its already bad w/ the n80)
-it can be a pain to get the internet sharing over adhoc on the pc (or it may be just me that struggled with that, lol)

i did it years ago when routers were expensive, but my advise now would be do it properly and buy a router. if you want to go ahead search 'adhoc network' (probably on a computer forum etc).

aye, just grab yourself a wifi dongle and your downloading away! 😉

Available at most shops that sell compy stuff.
