Restoring E62 backup to another S60 3rd: is it possible?

I just ordered an N80ie and an N93 from the Nokia Web site and I have a couple of questions:

I currently have an E62 that I've installed all the apps I plan to keep using, and I've backed these apps up both to my memory card and to the desktop through Nokia PC Suite.

What I want to know is this: can I restore that backup to either the N80ie or the N93 and save myself the time of reinstalling everything?

Also, is there a way for me to copy or import my desktop bookmarks to my Nokia phones? I don't fancy the prospect of having to type all of them into my device(s).

And finally, is there a way to change the apps that appear in my E62's home screen, rather than use the ones they have there already?

Thanks for all the help and answers.

You can change the, so called, Active standby apps in the Settings app (Phone > Standby mode > Active standby apps.)

Very few applications can be backed up and restored (it is up to the individual application developer to allow or disallow that, and most don't), so you have to reinstall them (and for many you need a new registration key from the developer, if you want it on a new device).

Thanks so much for the information! I knew this was possible, but I just couldn't find my way around it! I'm an expert with Palm and Windows Mobile, but I'm a relative newcomer to the Symbian OS (S60 3rd, at least; I've owned Psion devices in the past).

Anyway, regarding the reinstallation of apps, I kind of figured that would be the case, but I was hoping anyway, lol!

I knew I did the right thing registering here, this is a great resource!

Thanks again!

When you get your new phone(s), you can also use the "Transfer" app (which you will find on the phones) to copy things from your old phone directly (phone-to-phone).

That's good to know; it comes today, so I'll let you know how it goes. On another note, I got my hands on an N95 that my friend is reviewing for a magazine. Not bad so far.
