Oh, and re: Tv out. Thanks for the link head-up. Our brief loan E90 arrived bare - I guess there'll be a special 2.5mm tv out lead in the final box. My existing Pop port and 3.5mm Tv out leads were a no-go though, and there's no tv out app in the ROM yet.....

Does the E90 GPS allow basic functions like saving waypoints which can later be exported to a text file containing their coordinates (like I can do with a Garmin handheld)?

Maybe this is impossible to answer with a prototype but...
How well does it sync with Outlook? e.g. is it improved over the 9300?
I don't care personally but this is vital to a friend who is thinking of jumping ship from a 9300 to a (gasp) Windows mobile phone because of this.

Syncing? It syncs PERFECTLY to Outlook, I did it just now on the proto. All my contacts etc. More screenshots in "E90 Extra", a big additional article I'll put up on Monday when I've caught my breath.
A2DP? Yep, though I can't test this as I don't have a Bluetooth headset.
Really liking this E90 now, once they've err... finished all the little bits they haven't done yet, it'll be my main device for sure. Battery life sucks on this proto, but with a 1500mAh battery, I'm sure they'll fix this well before release.

Thanks but I think the problem is to do with a lack of categories in the 9300 Calendar therefore that info doesn't get synced (sunc?) to Outlook. I may be wrong on that as I don't use Outlook myself so never really grasped the problem. I read on a different E90 preview that this still doesn't happen - can you confirm?
Anyway, it's too late for my friend now as he's gone to the dark side and bought himself an 'XDA Orbit' (whatever that is) 😮
Steve, in your E90 extra post, please put more screenshots of quickoffice e.g. how do page/slide view of ppt/doc/xls documents look like in E90 internal screen.

Thanks very much for your previews and comments on the new E90 communicator. I'm an ex psion 3a, revo and 5mx user, which I mainly used for it's agenda application. Since my 5mx died for the 3rd time in a row, I decided to quit it and move to a moleskine paper diary, which although nice, isn't quite the same.
My question is would the E90 satisfy me for agenda use?

Anyone here know anything about a US model E90?? There are a few FCC docs from Engadget suggesting the possibility, but nothing from Nokia yet.
why is it that nokia 5300 does not support MP3 vidios,

i am new to the world of Symbian and Communicators (have played around a little with the e61 and liked it).
1.Does the E90 have Blackberry Push email via BB connect? The official specs dont seem to say so.
2. Can one project PPTs thru a VGA out to an external screen? Does it have a VGA out?
3. i use a lot of ppt. Does the software support full animation and other features of the Office 2007?
4.A few things from the specs that i didnt quite follow: What is the Nokia Wireless Presenter?? Whats VOIP 2.1? Can it do Skype?
5. Can one SMS or email short voice notes? (say upto one minute?) instead of typing them?
6. How much better or worse is the keyboard as compared to say the e61 or a blackberry? i can only thumb type! And what can the e90 Do which the e61i cannot?

1. BB Push is supported via third party solutions available from Nokia Business.
2. No clue about this one, sorry. It does have TV out.
3. Not sure about this one. You may need some third party software
4. Nokia Wireless Presenter is software that you install on your PC that allows you to use the phone as a remote control for your PC. For example, if you have powerpoint running, using NWP, you can control the slides from your phone. VoIP 2.1 is the next version of the protocol that allows voice over internet (ala Skype). It cannot do Skype directly, but you can get third party VoIP applications that connect to Skype (like Fring) or separate applications that do the same thing.
5. You can record a note and send it as a MMS attachment (same thing like an SMS).
6. Having never used the blackberry, I cannot comment. However if you can thumb type, you should be okay. None of these devices are really meant for 'touch typing'. If you are holding it, you will be thumb-typing. If you are sitting it on a desk, it will be hunt and peck. Compared to the E61, it has the following extra features:
1. Built-in GPS
2. Updated software platform
3. "Dual" phones. In closed mode, the E90 is a complete phone (all features can be accessed). In fact, if you don't need to use the keyboard, you really don't need to open it up.
4. E90 has Bluetooth 2.0 (I believe with EDR support -- faster transfers basically)
5. E90 has a radio
6. Better camera
7. More RAM (128 MB compared with 60)
8. E90 does video calling
Those I can remember from reading up on the device, I'm sure there are others.

No. It doesn�t have the fax application built in. And can be connected to a TV.

Does the E90 have a caller groups option?
You know that one of the most valuable features that 9300 and 9500 series were missing is the caller groups. i.e., defining a group, adding members to the group, then assign a tone to the whole group. You can also send messages to the whole group as well without needing to select contacts one by one.
The feature was not existing in both the 9300 and 9500. You can only assign a tone to a contact not a group, so if you have 10 members as part of your family for instance, then you have to change the ringing tone for every one of the 10 members each time you want a different ring tone to the family. It was really hectic.

In theorie and probably for freaks with a lot of time on their hands, the E90
got everything you can think of. HOWEVER, in the daily practice, with an
exception of the phone application, almost all other application are tiresom to
use. INTERNET scrolling is a real torture. Slow and very user unfriendly. Using
Push email is a sheer hell ! There is hardly any software application that does
not require endless clicking from one sub-menu to the other. FORGET THE E90
just buy a userfriendly iPHONE.

Hi, I currently love my 9300, but what I would like to know is if the E90 supports video calling here in Canada.
A couple of years ago, Rogers and Fido (owned by Rogers) were the 1st company in North America to offer video calling. But all the reviews about the E90 (in N.America) are from a time before video calling was available.
Does someone have a E90 on this network, and does this feature work?
I don't want to have to carry around two phones.
