The smallest Bluetooth keyboard ever?

Launched today is perhaps the smallest add-on full keyboard ever. Proporta's Freedom Mini Duo (have they been talking to Sony's memory card people about product naming?) weighs only 83g, fairly impressively, although it only really takes you into thumb keyboard territory. Still, might be useful for owners of the N80, N73, E60, etc.

Read on in the full article.

The Freedom Mini Duo has been around for at least a few months. For example, mobileplanet.com lists it as available since October.

Ah. Oh well. Proporta were issuing their press release today and it was the first I'd heard of it. Hopefully it will appeal to someone! 8-)

Whoa! Hang on a minute. I got one of these from Expansys at Christmas to go with an E50. The Expansys compatibility list didn't specifically include the E50 but did include the N93, so I concluded it could be used with the E50. It couldn't; the Expansys compatibility list was wrong. Freedom promised Symbian OS9 drivers but when they finally came out they were actually for a different keyboard, called the "universal". By that time, of course, Expansys weren't too happy about taking the thing back. Customer support from Freedom was completely non-existent; the support section of their website is basically an ignore-bot. It was only when Expansys intervened with them that they bothered to reply to me.

To the best of my knowledge, this keyboard will not work with Symbian OS9/S60v3 devices. Interestingly, I see that Expansys are no longer listing it, presumably while they sort out their compatibility list. To their credit, Proporta seem to link you through to the definitive Freedom compatibility list.
