Aluminum case and signal

Hello!

I'm thinking of getting some protection for my new E61, and BoxWave's aluminum case looks interesting, but I'm worried that the metal will block some of the signal (GSM,3G,WLAN) and lead to reduced sound quality and lower battery life.

So if any of you guys have this case or something similar for your E61, I'd be interested to hear if you have noticed anything.

Thanks in advance 😊

A metallic case is not recommended because it will create an electromagnetic shield. You might not receive any signal at all.

Yes, I'm afraid the metal will form a shield. The case does have some openings near the antenna though, so it'll probably get signal, but it seems probable that it will be somewhat reduced anyway.
I did contact BoxWave about it and they said they haven't had any complaints, but of course they are the ones who profit from selling the case and maybe people who bought the case simply accept some signal loss...
Anyway maybe it's best to choose some other kind of protection. Thanks for the reply anyway 😊

I might get a leather case, but I wanted to examine more durable alternatives too, since my phone can get some shocks sometimes, for example if I take it with me mountain biking :P

I have one of the anodized aircraft-grade aluminum cases with plexiglass plastic screen sheild on my E61, and I haven't had any difficulties with signal or anything else since I started using it. I'll post a picture or link of which one it is when I get back.. have to run out for now...

Hmm, interesting. Yes, it'd be nice with a picture or link.
Have you tested to see if there are more "signal bars" with the case open than when the case is closed? Especially in areas where the network coverage is not so good?

Thanks for the input!
