About changing the startup image

Hi guys!

A friend of mine of my country wants to change the startup image (the color image of the hands), but he tells me that when he tries copying a new image on drive Z, he get the message "only reading" (please excuse the translation).
Does it exist any way to do it?

Thanks!

This is because the Z drive is the ROM drive (thats why they dont usually want you near it - you can't do anything damaging, but neither it is useful). Consequently it is read only, hence your friends message.

This, I think, has been discussed before and the conclusion was that there was no way to change the images.

It depends on how the system is searching for the file. If it is an explicit load from ROM (probably) then there's nothing you can do. But if it just loads using the folder and file name and lets the system search the drives (z which is ROM is last) you could put another file with the same name in the same location on the C drive.

I stress this is theoretical, but if someone is keen it may be worth a try.

My guess is though that it is loaded explicitly from ROM as Nokia would want to keep their brand image coming up every time.

Hi,

There is another way to change the startup picture (4096 colors) not on the phone but on the PDA.
You should edit .INI file. Or dissamble it from SDK. I still don't know what it mean until now.
My friend told me that. He has already dissambled it and it works but he won't teach me.
Please let me know if one of you know how to make it works.

Thank you in advance.
