I take it then that this firmware update is available only at Nokia, or is it available at the telco service centres as well?

here in the philippines was released i think last year, dec 2002, the difference that i noticed that the message icon (orange color on older version) is now blue

You can see that the red pallete is available in version 4.37, so it should be available in 4.39 😃

You can do it yourself if you have the flashbox and the software, you can get the flashbox online from some websites, and the software here:

It's a 15 MB exe file, last time i checked they had 4.37

😃

if nokia again fails to safe and restore my data i'll get a empty phone in about an hour with 4.39 and can tell you.... 😊

In Bulgaria, it is also available V4.39
I will update my phone next week. the guys from NCS said that the new verion is about 200Kb arger then V.3.16.
BR, Miro

Shadow: last time they didn't safe any data at all though i asked them to do so, pcsuite doesn't backup all data either (even with the edited backupexclusionlist.dat).

but this time they managed to leave all my data on the phone... the only thing that was changes was the language (german instead of english as it was before).

now i wonder if i should call nokia and ask them why pcsuite can't backup/restore all data but why NSC can do so.... curious what they are going to say... not that it would change anything though 😉

about memory... i didn't take a close look at the memory before, but taskman was saying something like 2800KB free - now it says 3050KB free - this is with my stuff installed - so i guess 4.39 doesn't clutter up more space on drive c than 3.16 did, the approx. +250KB might come from some logfiles and similar beeing empty after reflash i guess.
everything you got on your phone remains!!
I certainly hope so!!! I took my phone today for an upgrade to 4.39 here in Kuwait from the previous 3.12 which I had but they told me .. do not expect anything in your phone .. no contacts, no images no programs nothing they told me they might do a backup for me after reflashing it but no promises!!
Well I just have to wait and see!!

I was wondering if any of you guys have to pay for an upgrade? In Kuwait you get all the free upgrades within one year of buying the phone after that !!! I dont know they dont say! However for now its for free and they gave me a lender phone to use until my 7650 is finished I got a 8210 😊
Any of you guys paid for an upgrade .. and if so how much??

just got 4.39 in germany.. and they even managed to keep all my data, no loss 😊

and finally the homezone works 😊

but it looks pretty shitty, cause it kind of overrides the image in the right corner 😞
and no red pallett 😞

greets from germany, tias

i lost following - nothing serious though:
date, time, 24/12hour format and language setting

Just got mine upgraded a few days back. Funny that I had 1.1 MB of free space before I sent it in, and 2.5 MB after I restored it when they gave it back to me.

No new colour palettes and nothing new that I noticed, BUT 4.39 is DEFINITELY faster. Especially with the %^$*(#%&*(& Log application which used to take forever to open and navigate.

well here are the differences that has been made. from 3.16 to 4.39

Weee! I just updated my phone for the first time, from version 3.12 to 4.39. I thought I was going to loose all my settings/sms/phonebook entries/etc but it's all still there!

I love the orange palette! 😃

Anyone knows if it's possible to delete that annoying 'About'-application?
