I install the Yucca Browser / file manager and noted that there is a drive D, it seems to be 10mb in size and I was able to make a folder in it.
It can't be seen in the built in file manager !
Question what is this drive , can it be used for anything ?
There is also a drive Z that seems be be system drive.
Can anyone help ?

The 'D' drive is the operating memory space (the RAM of your phone)-its a separate memory that works exactly the same way as the RAM memory in a PC. You can't install any applications or data in it.The memory is used for execution of the operating system and applications. The 'D' drive memory size is variable (depending on the applications your running;it changes) and isn't fixed like your memory card size or internal phone memory.
The 'Z' drive is the ROM which contains the operating Symbian OS 9.x / S60 3.0 software (depending on which version your using) ,it also contains the system data and settings required for your phone to boot and work. The 'Z' drive is a read-only drive;so you can't modify its contents, the memory can only be erased and re-written during a firmware update process.
The 'D' and 'Z' drives don't show on the built-in file manager which only shows the C drive(your phone internal memory) and the E drive (your memory card)..-it doesn't even show some hidden system files of the 'C' and 'E' drives;which would normally show in the Yucca browser.
Thanks very much for that clear explanation, now I understand better the workings of the phone.
So D drive can expand if needed taking memory from the C drive (phone memory) ?

kinda like that.

Actually there's normal a fixed total amount of RAM memory installed in each symbian phone, normally your not given the whole thing as RAM to use;just a small amount of it(they wouldnt want you to crash your phone if you used all of it).
But the amount of free memory in the C drive, seems to an extent, affect the amount of free available RAM that the system and apps can use.-So at times when you have low free phone memory ;applications close more often because of the low free RAM.
