Sim Card Error

Hi, my dad just got back from the Philippines recently and bought my sisters and me new n70s. Our service provider here in Alaska is CellularOne. We get service and i can make and recieve calls, but when we try to copy our contacts from our Sim cards to the n70 we get the "sim card error" message. We've tried taking it out and checking to see if it was aligned and it still did not work.

Is it possible that the phone is locked somehow? Even if everything works other than accessing the sim directory?

Can anyone help? TIA

Switch off the phone, reinsert your sim card ensuring that it is aligned properly. Then switch on the phone in the standby screen, open your menu and go to contacts,if it asks to 'copy contacts on the sim card' say yes. If this doesn't work..
In the contacts section, click on options,go to 'SIM contacts' ;tilt the joysick to the right (you should have 3options or so one of which should be 'SIM directory'😉 click on 'SIM directory' (this option should open the contacts on your sim card).
Highlight any of the contacts, click options and click 'copy to contacts'- it should show 'copied to contacts' .-click on 'back' and go back to the 'contacts' ,if the copied contacts is there;then there shouldn't be any problem copying the rest.-(if you mark the ones you want to copy).

This any help?

Is it possible you can put your sim card in another phone and try if it works?

You need to isolate the problem;whether the fault is from the phone or from the sim card..
Try putting the sim card in another phone (not the N70) and see if u can access your sim contacts..

it works on my older nokia which it was in prior to the n70... i'm just about ready to give up..

The phone must be at fault.

it could be that the sim cards are 2g sims and the n70 is a 3g phone and it does not see them properly!!!

Maybe you could take it to a Nokia Service/repair center,.or back to the place you bought it- the phone must be at fault.
