How can you use your own maps on an E61?

Hi there everyone!

I've bought a Holux GPS Slim 240 bluetooth gps for my E61, and it works GREAT! I'm loving it - never used a GPS before, and the thing works beautifully!

I do have the map of my town on Garmin IMG format, and also on OpenStreetMap format as well. Is there a way to use any of these maps on my E61?

What about navigation? Is there a way to use them on the E61 in order to locate a street, for instance?

You see, I live in Brazil, and there are few (if any) GPS solutions for the Nokia here and, when there are, they just don't have my town... So it would be nice to transfer my own maps but still have some funtionality.

So any help on applications that allow you to use your own maps or simillar things would be greatly appreciated.

Yours,

Francis

Yes... it's a piece of crap, in my humble opinion. Why? The thing creates thousands of files to put on the phone. Each file occupies, say, 4k or 16k on the phone (even if the file itself has less than 1k). So it fills a 1gb SD when it has just 300mb of actual data! And the Brazilian portion of it is highly incomplete, or so it seems to me - installation didn't go well.

And it doesn't allow you to install other maps than Nokia's.

Cheers,

Francis

fair comments, i have not used it myself as i have navigator 6 in the UK. If i see anything else I will post the details.

Have you had a look at googlemaps?

I have google maps - it's great, as well as mgmaps, but those solutions get their maps online, and i'd prefer an offline solution.

the only offline solution i can think of is Microsoft Streets and Trips, but I have not used it with the e61 so am unsure if there is a client for s60v3.
