Incorrect memory usage?

3 replies · 1,762 views · Started 11 March 2007

Hi all,

If I check the memory status of my phone and/or my memory card and then check the size of the files on each in the file explorer, the 2 do not correspond. ie: the amount of used memory on my phone is 45Mb, however the total size of the files on the phone is only 22Mb.

Do uninstalled applications stay on the phone somehow? Or is there some other explanation?

I would like to get my space back without having to format the phone and card, if possible!

Cheers,

J-Ho

Is like that. Besides the program files, you have also a lot of hidden files, and system files.

Yeah, but I'm sure that the problem has gotten worse and worse. I'm sure that all of the hidden usage is not actually in use.

No way to free it up other than a re-format?

Cheers.

Wirelessly posted (Nokia E70: Opera/8.01 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/3.0.6560/1630; en; U; ssr))

Check C:/Installs ;using your phone file manger and yank out anythn in there.Dont worry it wnt affect the phone workings ,but it'l free up space.
When u install apps, the phone saves a copy of it in that folder.

Although there also alot of hidden files and system files that wont show using the normal file manager/explorer. .some 3rd party file explorer will show them.
