Cannot install an application, and looking for another

Hi,
I have two problems:

I have been trying to download the barcode reader application from Nokia , but after the phone downloads it says it cannot install! this is from the n80 page!

Another thing I am looking for is an application I saw is availalbe for other models, and I don't understand how come the n80 doesn't have a version. I am talking about the application that allows you to control your computer to do presentations (back, forward etc.)

anyone can help me with the above?

There's a version of the Psiloc Wireless Presenter available from Psiloc for the N80:
http://shop.psiloc.com/en/Application,262200,Psiloc+Wireless+Presenter

Another one like that is SysOpen Digia's (much more expensive) ImageExpo:
http://www.sysopendigia.com/C2256FEF0043E9C1/0/405000177

And the N80 barcode reader from the N80 support pages should install just fine:

If it doesn't, check this setting: menu > Tools > App.mgr > Options > Settings > Software installation > All

If that's not enough, you might want to tell us what error message you get and how exactly you download/copy the installation file to your phone.

Thanks for the links...I am disapointed its not built-in (like I see for other nokia versions) but I will trial the two and maybe buy one (so far the PSIloc doesnt seem to work - their instructions on what to do on the computer are inacurate)

Here is what I do to get the bar code:
In my phone, I open the address above in the phone's browser.
I scroll to the barcode reader and click the link "download now" (I also tried the link "SIS"
then I click "accept and start download"
the download starts, finishes,
the phone then asks to open the sis file I click open and get the following error message:
"installation of nokia_n80(rest of the name of the file) is not supported

Don't bother with the Nokia barcode reader on the N80. You'll spend forever trying to get it to read a barcode. It seems to use VGA resolution for the image which is too low, plus I find it only reads EAC/UPC barcodes (the kind you get on products you buy like books, food, CDs, clothes etc).

Just a gimmick app really.

yeah, the barcode reader is good for 1 or 2 reads for fun then you get sick of trying to focus it on crappy 2-D barcodes....

waste of time/effort... (unless you want to go round reading barcodes... but if you do... you better off with a complete purspose built scanner... (I know)) 😉

deadkenny, The Psiloc Wireless Presenter works fine for me.

As to the barcode installation, check this setting: menu > Tools > App.mgr > Options > Settings > Software installation > All
