GPRS Settings
Is anyone in the UK on Vodafone having problems with the GPRS on their P800?
I have the supplied Vizzavi GPRS settings and can only access the Vizzavi WAP site. I cannot access any proper internet web sites or other WAP pages. Anyone got any ideads or having similar problems???
If you have a P800 with a GPRS connection and Opera you will find surfing a pleasure. The connection is fast and pages come in quickly... The thing that scares me is T-Mobile charge 2p per kilobyte, now that doesn't actually sound like much but when you consider a page can be around 50k that equals a pound... a pound for a single web page. They give us great functionality that we all want to use and then price it out of the market so we can't afford to use it.
http://www.justyakchat.com/Phone/setup/GPRS%20settings-ALL.xls is an excellent page for all your GPRS settings!
Sorted my phone out straight away.
Just read this at justyak.com. Also, you can find many settings guide for P800.
i have been to the justyak site and got the settings for my p800 on vodafone UK. i have set up a new account with the right settings and have now opened opera browser. i now try to load up http://www.opera.com and i tried http://www.google.co.uk. it asks for connection, i use the my gprs connection from justyak & i get an information box that says 'Not ready'.
help? 😞
same here, anyone have the working settings for the internet access point on vodafone uk
Sorry guys, should have posted this here...
Thread with Voda UK GPRS settings...maybe
--PS--
check Jules' settings in that thread, they've been confirmed
yo, that sony ericsson globe wap configurer WORKS for t-mobile.
its actually awesome, but i put in the same settings in myself and it wouldn't work, it only works when i use the auto-setup message.
try it, it works great

I just got my p800 a few days ago. It seems like the Vodophone people in the stores are about as clueless as they could be. Nobody knows if VF LIVE is supported, but they say that regular GPRS is... I get the settings sent to the phone and they say VF LIVE...I cannot get online at all. So i guess the settings are no good. Does anyone in NL use their p800 through Vodophone and know the reall settings?
Many thanks.
This is a post I made in the main forum but I just thought it could also be put here...
Hey People,
If there is anyone out in Australia using the Optus network with their P800 and is having problems with GPRS, WAP, MMS settings just let me know and I can email you how to set this all up. Optus were of some help but unless you speak to a technician, all they will be do is send you auto-setup SMS's. These dont work if you trying to use Opera browser to surf the net (GPRS but over WAP gateway).
So if ya need any help let me know. Sorry cant help with other networks, only Optus.
I am connected using Vodafone in Oz.
Once I fiddled with the three very confusing autoconfig messages that they sent and wouldn't explain and of course didn't work. I managed to get it to work and can surf web and read pop3 email but have to make a seperate connection to recieve mms! (with a nice 15k at 2c/k charge for each connection)
Any way my main trouble is when connected to any form of GPRS I can't recieve phone calls!!!
Is this normal? or just my provider? the manual mentions there may be a breif time when pages are loading but this iss the entire time the GPRS connection is up!
Vodafones homepage has the settings for most of europe... and automatic configuration through sms. The cost for most of scandinavia is about 0.012/kb. Makes most of the web pretty usless. All the spam/ popups come in at about 200kb you can easily spend 3 for just checking news.
But my real question is: should I be able to recieve calls while connected to GPRS?
Does anyone have a P800 with working settings for KPN Mobile, I've looked everywhere but keep ending up empty handed. The morons at the helpdesk are not very helpful, they don't seem to have the 'document' for p800 settings and therefor do not support it yet!
I've tried with th settings for the T86i, but it doesn't seem to want to connect. I've applied for an 'm-info' account through dialing 424, and subscribed for a gprs account. I have tried everything, I am hoping there is someone here with a P800 and a KPN Mobile account who has got it working. Lamers at KPN Mobile don't even support MMS yet! Still trying to sell their i-mode.
Any help is appreciated. (please don't point me towards the sonyericsson site with the auto-setup sms thing, coz KPN Mobile is not listed there).

Hi Baloo. I'm also on KPN Mobile. I didn't have to set anything! The standard settings worked perfect! BTW, I think it's lame too that KPN still won't support MMS :-?
Succes ermee Baloo 😃
But my real question is: should I be able to recieve calls while connected to GPRS?
Yes you can. The P800 is GPRS Class B, which means it will interupt the GPRS session once you get called, and will resume after you've ended the call...
Delta737,
Can you tell me what your settings are, coz i already deleted the default settings (*doh*). Also for all the other punters out there, though i doubt there are more people who have an kpn account, since the other providers are better and cheaper =).
Thanks.

Is your phone set to Dutch or English??? If you want the settings, send me an e-mail (clicking the e-mail button underneath my message)...
So after trying dozens of setting, it turns out I just needed to install opera! Everytyhing works well now based on all the setting everyone has given.
Question remains, why does rogers not work with the built in browers.

2p / KB (20 / MB) seems high: looking at the T-Mobile small business site, they seem to be charging 3 / MB at most (0.3 p / KB). Looking at Vodaphone's GPRS plans on the website, the most expensive one I see (GPRS starter) is 0.73 p / KB = 7.30 / MB. GPRS select is 0.23 p / KB = 2.30 / MB.
My incremental costs on Orange are 1.50 / MB, or about 7.5 p for a 50k web page- still not cheap, but it is quite nice to be able to surf the web in the park etc...

OK for the vodafone network
For full internet access
Username web
Passowrd web
address internet
get IP adress and DNS automatically
proxy server none
enable ppp extensions yes
Authenification no
header compression yes
wap settings
(within internet accounts)

Use proxy yes

for mms accounts (you need to setup and use this profile within wap accounts)
same as setup for wap accounts, but within messaging accounts, service centre adress is http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms
PS the sonyerricson site does NOT give the correct internet settings for vodafone (gives wap settings which limits the downloads from web sites to 200KB, and has a lot of issues for some websites).
PPS ***slightly uncomplementry comment removed, since I decided do give out ext number for anyone who has problems on vodafone network***
Anyway, if you have any problems on the vodafone network, call me on 196, and ask for ext 22383, for Keiron, and I will be happy to help.
oops forgot the outgoing sever type
For email client
Outgoing server is send.vodafone.net (or you can use smpt.vizzavi.co.uk). the internet account will be the whatever you named the account using the internet address (within internet accounts). All other settings for your email provider.
For vodafone.net email accounts
incoming server
pop.vodafone.net
username (everthing before the @ on the email account address)
password (eh some how think I am being a little to informative here - but password for email account)
dont use smtp authenification.
dont mind me, slightly pissed.
Anyway, on vf network, call service provider to see if internet APN setup on vodafone. (Access Point Node) (but because most of the sp's would not know what an internet apn is, say full internet access), before can use email client, or full internet access.
Hope my bosses dont read this!!!
PS charges on vodafone uk - 7-50 per MB, unless have vodafone anyime 200, then cost goes to 2.35 per MB ( i think, cos I don't deal with billing).
ppps vodafone live now supported on p800. (Strangley enough since had to configure my directors p800 😉 )....,

Initially i used to face the same problem, some phones uses TCP stack for communication, so P800 is one such phone. U need to ask the operator for Full Internet settings not just the WAP GPRS.
