Any idea P800/P802 launching in Asia

*heh*

Didn't expect to see you here too. Last heard was that the P800 will be out 3rd week Jan. At least that's what the Ericsson Service Centre people said last week.

Not crossing my fingers for this one. No T9? And MS Duo cards only come in 16 MB? *bah*

kekeke, 3rd week Jan? Okie Dokie. Well, I do agree no T9 is a hinderance to me since I prefer thumb power vs stylus pen. Will wait for local early adopters to review first! :P

Be aware that SE claims the P800 only supports up to 128MB.

There have been quite a few sightings of the P800 in Singapore already. I've been tempted to actually buy one of these, but held back for fear of lack of support.

Well, there's only 1 week more to wait...

There might be a longer wait if it's the P802 you want. I don't know if the P800 can be upgraded to a P802 through firmware, but if it's not a simultaneous release, then I'll be suffering still in a week's time. ~sigh

is this true? p802??

whats the difference??
Its the Chinese version.
ic,,,, so thats the only difference?

Major differences may be:
1. Chinese input
2. English-Chinese/ Chinese-English dictionary
3. Chinese lunar calendar

The OS can be set to chinese too. But all these come at a premium. The 802 has a 9MB usable RAM compared to the 12MB on the 800.

Has anyone gotten the pre-production sets floating around in Lucky Plaza basement? I always feel the magnetic pull on my wallet when I 'accidentally' pass by the area. 😃

Expansys have some P800 imports on order. Due in 5 days according to their site. Had to pick myself up off the floor when I saw the prices though. 890 for handset, 655 on o2 contract. I plan to get a p800 on an Orange contract (eventually) but hope it's a hell of a lot less than 655. I was hoping for an initial price of something like 200/250. If they do come out at that price, then it's a lot to pay just to get the latest technology a few weeks earlier.

P-800 has been officially launched in Jakarta since December 24, 2002. Currently you can get one for Rp. 6.500.000 (roughly USD. 730) at any retail stores.

Yeah, I am waiting for P802. Though only 9mb of free space, there is ext storage so it should be enuf.... :P

 I have bought one about a week ago but was pretty expensive then. Since the price is only gonna be about 1388 w/o line as claimed in the newspaper, you can wait for it. Lucky Plaza is probably selling more than $2K... Anyway, I have used it for about a week and it beats all the new phones hands down (I owned T68i, 6100 and 7650 before this). It basically has all that I need and plays more than 1 album of MP3 songs with CD quality (although on 24/32 kbps = good MP3 player). BIG colour screen and the handwriting recognition is far better than the pocket pc and palm I have used, which means I probably can write faster than T9 8) . The camera? It is of acceptable quality (I was tempted to compare it with my digital camera). A definite good buy for those looking for an all in one. One thing to watch though is the volume of the phone, not loud enough although loudspeaker mode is same as 7650. There is probably some challengers in the near future (Neonode N1 is one of them) but this has to be the ultimate smartphone to date, and a really usable one too 😃 No regrets at all :P

The price is quite fine by me,the 7650 was 699 euros when it first came out.

You mean it's already been advertised in the newspaper? When is it coming out then? Lucky Plaza is selling for $1500. So I would say that $1388 is pretty expensive for an official release compared to the black market. I hope with the 2 year plans it become more affordable.

Where did you get yours from, ie Sin or elsewhere? Do you ever worry about support from SE Sin if your set is so called 'illegitimate'?

that english->chinese->english dictionary would be cool to have on the non-chinese p800 too...

Pre-launch price in Spore is S$1299 include tax and can be ordered via http://www.sony.com.sg Listed price is $1392

Shall I buy since Spore may not carry P802.... if there is no demand!

God this is so cruel! Either pay more and get it earlier or wait for the telcos at a cheaper price (with trade-in/upgrade).

Are you going to get it, hianhwee?

BTW, anthony, I thought the P800 was supposed to be out in HK last december!!

well it the truth is that it was delayed here, I can't beleive that was said that it would come out Dec in Hong Kong, but no no no, and even now, NOTHING. Well i have seen import versions but then those do not have international warranty and cost like twice of they are supposed to be. They say that it will be coming out in late JAN or early FEB....very disapointing indeed, but i was wondering if anyone knows the exact date.....
