A tale of woe

Hi,

My e61 decided in Jan to intermittently not place calls and also not to ring or show missed calls when recieving incoming calls. I called 3 who told me it needed a firmware upgrade to v3, fair enough I was told to take it to the carphonewarehouse to be flashed. CPW told me in Jan they didnt have the branded firmware for the e61 and would contact me when they did. 2 months later I go to them and they tell me they have had it for about 6 weeks and noone would take responsibility for not contacting the customer, me. Anyway they take the phone off of me to flash it, the next day i go to collect it to be told the engineer hasnt downloaded the flash yet.. surely if they are a service centre for 3 they should have it already, anyway 3 hours later i go back to collect the phone to be told the phone wouldnt take the flash and that the menus 'are not right' It appears that they have tried to use a vanilla flash instead of the branded flash, the upshot is that my phone is unusable. It now will only place a call when it decides, and if you try to change any settings the phone locks up and i have to remove the battery. I cant install any apps and now the phone has to go to 3's repair center in Scotland to be fixed properly.

Draw your own conclusions about CPW but they are never touching any of my phones nor getting any recommendations from me for customers.

Why don't you speak to someone more important than a salesman in a shop and tell them all that? Just ask for a new one, tell them that you can't do your business without it.

tried reasoning with the manager who was worse than ignorant and all he could say was that they would send it away for 2 weeks to be repaired.

so a week later, my phone went to Scotland and I got a call telling me my repair would cost �30. When i asked why a firmware upgrade is chargeable they told me i had to have a new screen, it transpires the couriers broke my screen transporting it to the repair center!! Anyway having sorted it out with 3 and the promise it would be replaced but would have to wait an extra couple of days for my phone to be repaired i got a call telling me i can collect my phone. 3 guesses what happened, yes my phone still had a cracked screen and the firmware wast upgraded!! one massive row with India it is again back off to Scotland for the third time to get the firmware upgrade and now a new sceen for the second time of trying.

The latest, if anyone is interested!!, My phone came back with a new screen yesterday but no firmware update, it even still had my calender and contacts. One massive row with India and it now seems i have been lied to for two months, there is no v3 firmware branded for 3 phones despite 3 different people at 3 telling me there is and that i need it to fix my placing/recieving calls issue. I now have a substantial �27 worth of credit towards my next bill and am getting a replacement phone though they wont do a doorstep exchange, i have to send it back again and wait for them to send another out, so another 10 days at least without my e61 because of Easter.....
