M600i Charging Problems?

1 replies · 5,562 views · Started 21 March 2007

Ok, I got an m600i from t-mobile (UK) last month. I notice when I charge it from the mains (and USB), It'll charge to 100% then work its way down. It won't power off the mains like EVERY OTHER damn phone in the world.

This isnt helping as when I wake up in the morning, its at 80% charge already! And when I remove the charger and plug it back in, it won't accept the charge, I have to power it off to recognise the charge again.

T-Mobile have gave me a new m600i but its the same thing.. tried to get firmware but already has latest.

A little bug I have.. or is the phone like this?

Same problem here on an M600i from Vodafone Australia debranded and using generic M600i software.

Very interested to know if you fixed it?

It seems to (sometimes) charge to 100% and stop. Other times it gets to 85% or so and doesn't go higher despite being plugged in as long as you want. Unplugging and plugging in again _reduces_ the charge level over time.

Examples:
a) One night I had the phone at 4% battery. Plugged in overnight, was at 100% in the morning (as it should).
b) A few days later, had it on 1%. Plugged in overnight, was on 85% in the morning. This was fishy so I plugged it in again the next night (thinking, maybe it didn't charge completely or some such), next morning it was on 20% (!). Charging again night after, I found it on 0% in the morning (still worked but threw out battery warnings as soon as unplugged). Plugged in again and it seemed to be charging up after that (still charging - that was this morning).

In case b, the days when it was on 85% or 20% after charge, it was OK for the whole day, with the battery going down only a few % as expected from a day's use.
