Scrambled screen

Im suffering from the scrambled screen when someone rings, Ive not found much about it mostly just whats in the Nokia N80 Bug Report Thread. I have read before about an internal ribbon cable causing scrambling, but i dont think its that as it is only when i receive a call. has anybody found a way to solve it? soft format? hard format? reflash? i am on 4.0632.0.38 (n80ie).

it is happening to me too......idk whats happening.......could it be because of the "say callers name" feature??

Looking at other posts, it was seem to be a fault with the ribbon cable / connector. I had one phone which had this fault, and the one I currently have doesn't. It does sometimes slow the ringtone down to a distorted slur though.

I guess we can't have everything.

yeah, its been discussed here a few times this annoying scramble...

I didnt have it until recently on this phone..... but I seem to get it mostly if any screen msgs come up whilst in call... like call waiting, 2nd incoming call etc...

then it just goes green and I cant see sh1t.

It happened to me a few times after i flashed my phone to Internet Edition, but then it stopped and hasn't happened since (that was about 4-5 months ago). I don't know why it did that but it only occured 3 or 4 times.

I had this problem and I opened up the front cover which gives you access to the ribbon cable connector.

I carefully lifted the connector from its socket.

I then just pressed it back in a little firmer.

Haven't had the problem since.....

Hope this is of some use.

I had that exact problem with my N80 when I first bought it. It drove me nuts.
My cousin actually works for Telstra, (Telstra is a major Australian service provider) and she told me to take it back within 30 days to be replaced.
So I did that and the one it was replaced with has never done it, so I recommend you do the same.
