Faulty camera?

THi everyone,

Ive been browsing for a while, mainly in the N73 forums, although I have now acquired a N80. I bought it second hand, and the seller failed to tell me it had some water damage 😞

Anyhow, the phone works fine and all functions seem to work, apart from the main camera. When it is switched on, a white screen appears. The secondary camera works and takes photos although just the main one.

Would replacing the camera help? Or is there any issue it could be?

Also, where could I source a main camera for the N80 from?

Thanks

IDK, but I wouldnt imaging you can just 'change the camera' unless it was only the lense or summat...

No chance you can take the camera back, or take out your frustration on the seller... maybe with a baseball bat or the like? 😡

lol yeah kontraband violence is the answer isnt it. You can try to call nokia support but i think changing the camera will be a lot of cash.

It's physically possible to just replace the camera unit. The phone's very much modular in it's construction but I've no idea where you'd get one or how much it would cost.

The camera just pops out of the socket, like a eprom. As for getting a new one that could be the problem, but as you said it had water damage, it may just need the contacts cleaning up, or it may still need drying out as there could be trapped water in there. I was sent the disassemly video for an N80 from some one off here and it shows it can be removed, I can send it to you if your email will take a 25MB file.
