N80IE, Serious problem, nothing works! Need Help ASAP!

Hello,

I have the Nokia N80IE. I have the latest firmware. I'm using a Dane-Elec 2gb MiniSD card. The card has 1.07gb left. Since yesterday, the phone does not stay stable.

-It crashes and shuts off on its own (at least once every hour-2 hours).
-When hitting the menu button, i get a blank screen with my wallaper
-Same problem with any app
-Messaging app semi-works, goes very slow. Crashes sometimes.
-Battery dies faster than usual
-Camera goes to blank screen
-Calls sometimes don't come through but always go through.
-Phone sometimes freezes completely, requiring me to pull out the battery.

When I remove the memory card, the phone starts working again. Everything has been perfect until yesterday. The card has been working great for a whole month, no problems at all.

I was tethering from my Powerbook G4 yesterday for a fairly long time, around 6 hours. Since then, the phone doesn't operate good.

Now when I plug in the data cable to go into mass storage mode, I cannot backup my memory card fully. It copies around 170mb of data and says "waiting.mbm cannot be copied, the operation cannot continue." (I think that's what it said..)

I've had to restart the phone over 15 times today alone, and I'm getting extremely pissed off...

If anyone has a solution to my problem, please help me.

Thanks.

Obviously, the problem is your memory card. Suggest you take it out, stick it in a memory card reader and format it.

I had the same problem using my A-data 2GB...got it replaced once and now the second one behaving the same even after re-formatting it on the phone.

In my case, I found out for some reason my N80ie doesn't like the card if it's got filled more than ~950MB....if I put more than that...got the same problem as yours.

A-data are crap. I have had a similar problem with a user that came in with a phone that wouldn't read half his mp3s and would hang -- culprit was the A-data 1GB card that he had.

We transferred everything to a SanDisk 1GB and it worked great.

I had similar problems with my cheap Peak 2gb card all worked well untill I tried to get past the 950MB ish zone, would not copy data past this point I/O errors etc. took it back the shop they said nothing and just refunded me, Obviously they knew about it. Bought a kingston 2gb a bit more expensive but works a treat no problems so far... I think some of these cards are cheaply made or fakes.

Another possibility - have you been using the podcast program? I had 2 instances of the same symptoms you described after connecting to wifi home network overnight and leaving it to download a fair few audio and video podcasts. Woke up in the morning and the phone hardly worked - it froze, calls won't come through, menu wont work etc. Ended up removing the 2gb card, putting it in the laptop cardreader and deleting the podcast directory, all fixed.
