first you must have a modem phone log in (not broadband) there mostly free

then you must have a POP3 email or Imap NOT hotmail crap, if you create a modem phone log in you have almoust evertime a free pop3 email adres.

then fill in on you phone..

I've understained.................... NOTHING !!!
so I have to open new account ?
how do I know if it's pop3 or imap4?
what do i setup under "incoming mail server"?
and "outgoing mail server"?

One free web based email service that also allows POP3 access is www.orange.net and you dont have to be an orange customer. There are others, some charge extra for pop3 access others dont. And to find out their incoming/outgoing mail server details follow the help files or search their site, its usually quite easy to find.

I don't know how is it in other countries and other network operators but here in Finland you cannot just use any outgoing mail server, especially if you are using GPRS. Here you must use the one and only SMTP server that your operator provides you, i.e. the server is in same inner network than your phone when you open GPRS context. If you try to use some other SMTP server, it refuses your connection because you come from "outside" network.

You may be right about that, though Ive never tried email with a GPRS connection due to its high cost here in the UK, I only subscribe to the minimum data package. I use either a GSM or HSCSD connection with my ISP and this has no problem using other mail servers than its own.

yeah simeonbubblegum

with most free pop3 providers, u cant send outgoing email unless u are directly connected to their network....ie dial-up networking. getting pop3 email is no bother, most providers will let you take your mail quite happily....but not send

why ?

people taking advantage of ISP's good nature by using them to send spam email. twats spoiling it for the rest of us

i use btopenworld in UK (www.btopenworld.co.uk) i get a dial up network connection (cheaper than t-mobiles wap charge) and get to use my main mailbox
