Nokia N95 wireless connection problem

Hi,

For those of you who still do not have this working, I had the same problem that is now resolved.

Because our Wireless Access Point sits on a separate VLAN to our DHCP server, the Nokia WiFi software has issues obtaining an IP address via DHCP across this type of configuration.

The fix is to simply assign an IP address to the WLAN connection and it should work fine.

This is done in Tools >> Settings >> Connection >> Access Points >> [Access Point Name] >> Options >> Advanced Settings >> IPv4 settings.

Hi guys, this seems to be the perfect thread for my question!
I am accessing the internet using my laptop through my college network. I had to register my laptops wireless physical address with computer services in college before i could access it. My question is, can i use the settings on my laptop to access the internet on my n95 8gb? I mean is there any way of entering the settings fom mylaptop onto my n95 without having to go through computer services again?

Thanks for any advice you can give,
Bob20k

If they're using MAC Address filtering, then no, as you N95 will have a different MAC Address to your laptop.

Hi.

I have an e51 which is having problems getting ip address from dhcp server. The network where i having this problem uses a dhcp relay to communicate with the dhcp server.
When doing the same test on other (simpler) network configurations the cell phones works with no problem at all.
I haven't found support articles related to this problem

Any help?

I'm have trouble connecting my N95-8GB to PC (WinXP) Via the USB. It just won't connect and won't detect the N95. I've tried uninstalling PC Suite and reinstalling. Install using the CD and downloading the software form nokia.
I am totally pissed of with this wireless connection.... Please anybody help me to solve this problem...!

bullroar wrote:I have had most of the problems mentioned on this thread with my Orange Livebox. I solved it by a) deleting all the access points I made on the N95 b) turning the Livebox firewall off c) turning all security off on the Livebox d) switch livebox off.

Switch Livebox on then I reconfigured the Livebox via pc and set WEP and Firewall on, switch Livebox to pairing mode. Now connect with phone and enter WEP. Job done.

Now when pairing mode switches off on Livebox I can connect with the phone no problems provided I enter the WEP key. I can also now change the security level on the Livebox and not get any problems trying to connect the phone.

hi, ive got a n95 8gb and im having problems with my orange livebox.
after i type in the WEP key it keeps telling me that the "pre-shared key for WPA" is invalid
the key works fine for my wii so any ideas why not on the phone?

well, bit of a 'first off' but are you SURE you've put the key in right...

if you re-insert the key into the wii does the wii still work??

yes to both, ive even tryed unplugging the wii from the mains and trying to connect.

Hiii...i have registered just because i had the same problem...and i tried and got success

a few points are there...

go to 192.168.1.1 from your pc's browser

turn off/disable mac filtering...
turn off/disable ip filtering...

important point

when u are on 192.168.1.1
go to services
then go to IPv4 Routing
then go to Dynamic Routing..(u ll find it there at least in case of same modem as mine)

enable Dynamic Routing...

i did it and at once start browsing from my cell..(NOKIA N95)
