Anyone here know where one might get a hold of a somewhat larger Memorystick Duo than the included 16MB? I'm thinking more in the direction of 256MB, or at least 128...

Well, seeing as that thread did not answer the question, I think I'll just let it stand...😊 And take the lack of answers in the other thread as a hint of the fact that it just might not be available at all... Which of course again would lead to the conclusion that my initial thought "Fools, you should've chosen Secure Digital instead" so far stand uncorrected...😃
Just spoke to SE UK. They have no idea if and when larger sizes will be available. It's too big a revenue stream for Sony not to have larger sizes available soon.
Thats the beauty of "standards"... There are just too many of'em... I say again; I think it's a huge mistake of SE not to go for Secure Digital or MMC... It'll be interesting to see how long they plan to keep the customers waiting for a chance to save more than 16MB...
just remember how long it took for the p800 to appear!
Oh, trust me, I know. We were down at CeBIT last year, testing their proto then. One of the guys from SE told us it would for sure be available around august '02... But ok, the model we tested back then was without any form of memory card whatsoever, so I guess that was worth the wait...😃
Just got word from Sonys head office here in Norway. They found the 64MB Memory Stick Duo in their lists, apparently due for release in the end of this month... They promised to call one of my co-workers as soon as they had it in stock....

can the P800 handle 256MB?? i read some article saying that you can only use 128MB max!! correct me if i'm wrong!!
The current firmware only supports 128 Mb, but maybe with a firmware upgrade you can use the MS >128 Mb.
On the other hand, I heard something about all MemoryStick larger than 128 Mb will have MemoryGate, so I dont' know if there will be a FW upgrade with MG support......

read somewhere that the larger the memory card, the more physical contacts it needs .. so i dont know about the firmware update making it support larger mmc's
😃 All the delays are due to some simple business tactic: Why release something new when your current products are selling so well?! You'll save tons of research time and revenue meanwhile building up hypes for the eventual new-comers into the market later. In my opinion, it won't even hurt SE, but on the contrary, to delay the P800 for another half a year. I have like ten friends who've been waiting for the P800 since last year and half them had already settled for the T68i and they're most likely to get the P800 after they'd seen mine. 😉
