connecting Nokia 7650 to IPAQ 3950 over IR

Hi, Guys and Gals.
I'm having really hard time connecting NOKIA 7650 to IPAQ 3950 over IR port using Mobem mPHone 2.5 pro software.
On developers site, it says that NOKIA 7650 is supported samongs others.
BUt there is no netry for NOKIA 7650 in the list of phones while you creating new profile from mPHone 2.5 Pro. I have tried all posiible combinations but sould not get this sweet couple to communicate. mPHone just syas that : connection could not be established. I need this ti sync manage data on the NOKIA 7650 and sync it to IPAQ'd contact, phone book, etc, etc..
NO, i don't have bluetooth option. No i don't have IR attached to my desktop PC, so i have to go straight and connect PDA to 7650 direct via IR. PeaceMaker 12. Pro is working just great, soi i have no problem with file tranffer, but with contacts, inbox, calendar and other syncing.
Please advice. May be some specific seting required to get 7650 to tslk to IPAQ 3950 PDA..

Take a look at this page and you will see that mphone isnt compatible with the 7650 addressbook or even the contacts on the simcard.

No worries.
but i can't connect at all ...
any other apps to use instead of mPHone for IR connection to 7650 and accessing phone books (memory and SIM) ???
Any ideas at all?

I stopped using mphone when I got my 7650, never even tried to connect it so cant help with that problem other than suggest using the "generic connection" option instead of a specific phone if you havent tried it. I dont know of any PocketPC that will sync details with a 7650, though I havent really looked that hard for any as I use my PC for backup. You may be better investing in an IR USB adapter for your PC as theyre are some quite cheap ones about thses days.

I have just received information from one Teco guy that he has no isue with connection over IR using general profile on mphone.
my firmware is 3.16 (I have just received 7650 yesterday and had no time to get appropriate update) though. I guess this could be an issue.
looks like new firmware will solve this problem. I shall go and get it updated tomorrow. will let you know the result then.

Ok. i have worked that out.
what has to be done is this:
when connecting choose"general" profile on mphone and:

!!!!! connectivity --> modem !!!! on nokia 7650.
I had tried "Infrared" before...

now, 7650 phonebooks are not supported indeed. I able to dial out through nokia 7650 and send SMS though ( using as modem).
According to the information from developers, support for NOKIA 7650 phonebook will be incorporated in later versions.

Glad to hear you got it sorted 😊 I only used to use mphone to export my sms messages as the sims I was using on my other phones could only hold 20 messages each, but this wasnt a problem after getting the 7650. If they do include access to the addressbook in a future version it would be interesting to give it a try again, so thanks for that info.
