How do I unlock an Orange N95?

How do I unlock an Orange N95? Am not an Orange customer, so would like to know how I do this... went to mobilefun.co.uk but the site said unlock wasn't available on the N95 yet... can anyone offer some advice on ways to unlock this phone?

Thx!

Currently, the only way to unlock the N95 is to request the unlock code from the network the phone is locked to. There are no 3rd party unlocking tools available for the N95 (or for other N series phones).

hey thanks! and what happens once have the unlock code, do you just key it in? Sorry, never unlocked a phone before....!

No, unlocking a phone is perfectly legal. What is illegal is changing the IMEI of a phone.

When you get the code from a network, they'll tell you how to enter that code into the phone. (it can be different for different models of phone) Then you simply type it in, reboot the phone, and hey presto - it's now unlocked and can be used on any network.

Orange unlock the phone only if you prepay them your 12 months contract... Thats what they told me when I called them last week...

Get a Orange PAYG SIM card, stick 20 + on it.
Ring Orange and ask for it to be unlocked and they take 20 of credit off for the pleasure.
Wait for your unlock code.
Always worked in the past

A friend reflashed the firmware of his Voda N95 via his PC with generic Nokia firmware and it removed all locks. All he did was alter the product code, perform the upgrade and then return the product code to its original value.

This does not remove the SIM lock, only enables you to remove the network branding and restrictions.
The ONLY way to sim unlock the phone is by obtaining the unlock code from the network.

The guy who I spoke to said he could apply for the unlock code and would cost 20 I used 191.

Good luck

I have just phoned Vodafone customer services on 191 (or 08700 700 191) and they told me that they charge 20 for this service.

I used the "I'll return the phone under the 14 day exchange period and cancel my contract" line if you can't do it for free.......and they DID!!!

My N95 is now SIM unlocked and I am using my O2 SIM card in it.

Thank you Vodafone for my free phone!

One very happy customer 😊

I got my N95 from phone4u and contract (18 months) from Orange. I tested with sim from 3 and found that it is already unlocked. Maybe orange customers may not need to unlock their N95. I will test with my friend N95 which he is on vodafone contract but from phone4u. I'll inform the result latter. Cheers

You were lucky. My Phones4U 18 Month Orange contract N95 was locked and it cost me 20 to have it unlocked by orange.

Did the handset come in a black box with Orange branding all over the box, or in a Generic Nokia grey cardboard box with pics?.

Does the battery cover contain only the Nokia logo or does it also say Orange?

My phone came from Phones 4U too and has Orange branded on the box but I've tried both Vodaphone and O2 sims - they both worked. Not sure if theres a slip up but it certainly seems to be unlocked - now I need to try a T-mobile and 3 sim just to make sure.

Cool. I must just have been unlucky. I got my N95 the first week in April, when the handset was just released.

Just Tried Digicell Local Card here in trinidad in UK Orange Phone no luck 😞

Its a shame, some one of the expats out here recon its cheaper to use a Trini Phone in the Uk than a UK Net work...

Its certainly the cheapest way to call the UK 15p a minute and 5p of a weekend...

On Orange its 1.75

Makes you realise how expensive the UK's Mobiles are!

are they roaming with contract phones or pay as you go when they in the uk? i had tstt just as they switched over (jan 2k6) and it never used to work here as they wouldn't allow roaming. when i'm there if i need a long phone conversation i just get my friends to ring me (on my trini no, no way i use my uk no out there) using the 0844 access nos it doesn't cost them much.

I have just spoke to Orange myself and they have charged me 20 for the unlock code...its due to be sent out to me within the next 7 - 15 days via email.

Once this has been received am I able to then update my phone 's firmware to V12 as I would be able to with a generic handset?

Thanks

Phone unlocking and Firmware Versions are totally unrelated.

You will probably have to change the Product code to Euro-1 using NSS before you can get the V12 FW on an Orange branded N95.

I want to get my orange n95 unlocked as well. Can someone please tell me which number I have to call to request the code. Cheers

I bought my Nokia N95 (Orange UK ,Pay Monthly) 9 days ago. Then i start searching information about unlock simlock. So i found this;

Ok to answer my own question.

Yes an Orange sim-locked Nokia N80 bought off auction sites can be unlocked by Orange without much hassle. The procedure is

1.) buy phone
2.) buy Orange sim (£1 online)
3.) register imei with sim by calling 08000790006
4.) wait for phone to activate
5.) call orange on 450
6.) Request unlock code
7.) upload £20 to prepaid balance
8.) Wait few days for code

I am waiting for my code so will update you once I have it and it has worked."

I tested on my nokia n95 and that's working too. Got my code in 6 days. Prepare your imei code (*#06#). Goodluck in unlocking your phone. 😉

If u can't upgrade your nokia n95 to latest Firmware look here:

crazyal;

U call just one or more times? Becuse it depends on people which one speak with you. I rang them 2 times. First was "no, u have already contract". Second "ok, no problem wait for your unlock code few days" (no comment).

Just rang Orange and they say their policy has now changed as of 2 weeks ago - they will not unlock new customers PAYG handsets for the first 3 months now.

Now have £20 sitting on a PAYG sim that I dont need.

Bummer.

I just range up Orange with 20.01 on the PAYG sim I bought today. Calling them you get charged 25p to go through to the call center. They registered my sim to my IMEI and set me up to get the unlock code.

Think ill have to throw on some more credit.

By default ALL Orange and T-Mobile branded phones are SIM locked. O2 and Vodafone tarrif phones are now unlocked by default. (PAYG phones are still SIM locked)

Orange unlocks are still 20. You may or may not be able to get this done using the old PAYG method now as they've tightened up.

Vodafone unlocks are now FREE to contract customers.

T-Mobile unlocks cost 20. (not sure about specifics of this)

O2 & Vodafone PAYG unlocks are 20.
