N80 home network problems

Hi. I just bought a Nokia N80 and have successfully connected to my wireless lan (secure) and successfully accessed the internet with it.

What I am unable to do is view my laptop which is on that network. It is visible from my PC, but when I go to "gallery" then "home network" it says "create WLAN connection in offline mode?" (what exactly is offline mode - is it because I don't have a SIM card in it?), and I choose "yes" and then it says "waiting for devices" and then it says "disconnected" and then it goes "waiting for devices" again and doesn't seem to stop.

Another issue is that on the laptop where the software is installed, I can only choose to connect via USB, infrared or bluetooth. I want to connect via wireless lan. Basically I want to transfer files to and from the N80 via wireless lan, which is the most convenient for me. Is this not possible? I don't have bluetooth or infrared on the laptop.

Thanks. Paul.

the home network software is pretty flakey at the best of times.

You cant view your laptop files with it on your N80 tho... and you will need bluetooth or the likes to connect with it and your phone...

The offline mode is a profile you can choose... like a flight mode for example... will give you a X in the top left corner.

are you selling SymSMB? 😉

But yeah, your correct... You can connect with SymSMB... I only answered in the immediate.. i.e. connect with just what Paul had at the time... i.e. 1. N80...

anyway... Paul.. if your still about... check out the above :icon14:
