Ram Memory - an Improvement !! and a little bit of cheating by Nokia

On the N95 they have improved the way it releases its Ram Memory, on the N80 you had approx 20mb at startup (less on the N80IE) and after you had opened the contacts and web browser and closed them again this dropped to about 12mb, rarely recovering past 13mb.

On the N95 there is still only about 20mb at startup, but it recovers well when apps are closed giving an average of 17mb available, open the browser surf a few pages and this can drop to around 4mb, close the browser and it goes back up to about 17mb.

This means if you run in to memory errors while browsing you can just shut the browser and get nearly all the memory back, on the N80 you had to switch the phone off and on again.

On the subject of memory, one of the big gripes on the N80 was the fact that if you tried to zoom an image in the gallery past 50% you got an 'Out of Memory' error more often than not.

Shock Horror..........I am pleased to report on the N95 they have cured it !!!!!!!!
Well sort of any way Nokia have cheated !! they have set the max zoom in the gallery to 50%, so the bug appears to have gone, but only because you can no longer try and zoom you image to 100%+, well down Nokia, sneaky but I like your thinking.

Heh yes I noticed the zooming thing too. Better to not have it than to have it and not have it working. 50% is good enough I reckon and if you want to get closer the third party software might do it (not tried, but say Resco Photo).
