Firmware woes.

Ok I've just updated my firmware. I imagine the problem of old apps is known but I'll go over it. All the apps I downloaded before the update (on to my memory card) appear as icons but I cannot use any of them.
Is there any solution or do I just download everything again?
Thanks again,

Did you backup your phone before updating it?

Installing a new firmware will delete the information of what applications were previously installed - you'll either need to re-install them, or restore the backup you (hopefully) took of your phone before updating it.

Yes I backed up both on memory card and with pc suite. I also tried restoring both ways. Everything else restored perfectly like themes and settings but I still can't run any older downloaded applications or games.

Is this going to happen everytime I update my firmware? I've done it twice so far and both times lost all my apps (even with back-ups).
