Well i downloaded all the maps for UK and Wales last night and really gave it solid days testing while out and about working. I did a total of about 20 tests.
All i can say is; if you need to get somewhere in a hurry, forget it!!!
I know this region very well, and as soon as i did the first test i thought something is seriously wrong here. The route it gave was completely and utterly bizarre, i mean seriously messed up. Not even an idiot would take that route, it would add 30-45 mins to the normal 1 hour drive. Part of the route actually went in completely the wrong direction then turned back on itself. So i got my trusty PDA with TomTom on. Now i am not saying Tomtom is perfect, but it's bloody good most of the time. I tried tomtom with the fastest route and the shortest route, both very good and sensible routes that i would probably choose myself.
Ok, i will give this the benifit of the doubt and try a few more... but time after time it was completely mad. All i can say is this - roll on TomTom working with the internal GPS. Because this is not worth paying for. Period. Maps is trash, simple as that. Ok for a freebie (if it really is that 😉) but no way should it be paid for and upgraded to navigation. I mean so retarded i work say it's actually broken.
Hi,
I'm having the exact same problems as you are. I'm getting crazy routings from smart2go.
Luckily I only paid for 1 month of voice nav subscription. I can't wait for TOMTOM to patch their software to use with N95 internal GPS
Hello Guys..
how do I get Smart2Go recognise N95 internal GPS?
everytime I try to connect to GPS, it asks for turning the bluetooth on and search for an external GPS device..
menu > Tools > Settings > General > Positioning > Positioning methods
Make sure "Integrated GPS" is checked.

Its already checked... but still everytime I run smart2go.. and when I try to connect .. it asks for turning the bluetooth to search for a GPS device :con?
help
Have you unchecked 'Bluetooth GPS'?

yes "Bluetooth GPS" is uncheked.. I have "Intergrated GPS" and "Network based" checked..
Do I need to change the settings within Smart2go app ?
OOOps my bad.. what I meant was SmartComGPS software :/ NOT smart2go, the default app which is working just fine .. sorry guys..
anyhow, who tried SmartcomGPS, please share ur thoughts
OK, then you need a version of this SmartComGPS that knows how to use the internal GPS. From the behaviour, it looks like it only knows how to talk to an external Bluetooth GPS unit.
just got my N95 the other day, not to impressed with the built in gps and software already loaded. When I use the maps and internal gps on the N95, when I try to do a search for as an example "shopping malls", the phone asks to connect via internet to download the info. If I am at home or just outside my home close to my wireless router, it works no problem connecting via my wifi, but what if I am on the road ??? i don't subscribe to a data plan with my provider, when I do a search, it comes back with "nothing found" because it did not connect via internet. is there not a way to download all the points of interest (landmarks) into the phone's memory card ???
that's how it works with my TomTom and external bluetooth gps receiver....
hmmm ?????
p.s. any word as to when TomTom will release a new version of Navigator compatible with N95's internal GPS ?
thanks !!!!
