I have been struggling with my P990i since I got it in September, and successive firmware update only seem to make the thing more unstable. Besides the usual instability, system slow-downs, and spontaneous rebooting, lately I've been plagued by the alarm bug -- the phone remembers every alarm I ever set, and goes off multiple times in the night. Argh! This is really pathetic if SE can't even get a banal function like that to work right.
Nevertheless, I have decided not to jump ship for the Nokia N95 because, as lovely as that device seems to be, there is no way to enter text except for T9. I use my smartphones for quite a lot of e-mail and browsing, and I just gotta have an efficient way to enter text.
So I'm going to stick with the P990i for a while longer. Today I reflashed it yet again with the latest firmware. And on a hunch, I swapped out the 2GB memory stick for the original little one (64megs) to see if that might make the phone more stable.
Has anyone had any instability problems caused by memory sticks? Could a faulty memory stick cause problems?
And anyway, can you just swap memory sticks at will? Or do you have to reformat the whole system when you change memory sticks? A lot of stuff is stored on the memory stick; it doesn't seem to me that the system would understand what happened when you just stick a different one in. Anyone have any knowledge about all this?
