I'm quite sure if you have an up to date pc-suite, it will backup and restore your sms' - it will ask you to install an app sounding something similar to mmssync.

there is an app that is out to fix this, it's official and from nokia. if you search these forums you will find it.

All apps are either sis, sisx, or jar files. I don't think there are any other installable file extensions.

http://www.softwaremarket.nokia.com/ is a link for all sorts of software. Whilst there is definately some software out there that does this, i'm gonna have to rely on someone else to tell you what it's called.

One solution is to store your messages on the memory card; the other is to use the excellent PC Suite to backup your SMS messages.

No, but this app from Nokia will help you with the laggy SMS problem (its a known issue). You can also find other apps for your phone from Nokia.
To do a hard reset, type *#7370# and then 12345 (default pin). Needless to say, should you require anything on your phone, back it up first, this deletes everything from the phone memory.
To do a "soft" reset *#7780#, type 12345 then yes.
Please elaborate 'messing up my screen' -- this could be a lot of things.

.sis, .sisx and some .jar (java) games. Note that these extensions are not just for 3rd edition, so always verify what edition is required for any software.

No, but there is a software for this that I have seen on the E50. It might also be available for your phone; have you checked the 'Downloads' application?

Well say, i send a message, and 5min later it finally gets off the sending screen with the progress bar stuck (lagging) then it goes back to my inbox, and sometimes end up with white bits here and there, so i have to wait for that to go normal. All very time confusming, just to send a message of 10words.
i'll check out the download apps. any idea what it would be called?
Well i have over 800 messages in my inbox, so im guessing they've flooded over to my memory card (which reminds me, i've still got the starts SD card, i must buy a bigger one).
fyrestrtr posted a link direct to the app, and it is called sms accelerator. I'll post it again for clarity:
the sms accel works a treat with sending and the progress bar. but menus still lag after sending a text.
Ah ok - Well for now I'm out of ideas. Have you tried the reset yet?
