Does anyone know whether you can increase the frequency (from 30 minutes) so that it checks for new e-mails every 5 minutes, there isn't a setting below 30 minutes by default but I presume it must be possible.
Also I have e-mails coming in from my POP3 mailbox without a problem but for some reason it wont send e-mails, is there some special setting somewhere I've missed?
Thanks
Have you tried setting the Mailbox type to IMAP4 instead of POP? I have a POP e-mail account but find if I set the mailbox type to IMAP4 it checks e-mails every minute or so...
The setting is found in Email Settings/Connection Settings/Incoming e-mail
What outgoing SMTP server are you using for your outgoing e-mail? If you're using the one supplied to you by your broadband provider, this will probably not work outside of your broadband connection, for example, if you're on a 3G data connection or on someone else's internet connection.
Thanks, I'll try the IMAP4 thing and see if that works.
For outgoing e-mails I'm using the standard POP3 e-mail accounts that I use through my websites (which works fine in mail) but wont send from the phone 😞
What i wanted to know is if u set up a pop email where it automatically gets an email when u recieve one, well wouldnt that be expensive as it would always be connected to the net?
Also the main thing is that if u set an email account on ure phone or software where it checks ure email ive heard its like outlook where if u get an email on ure phone it wouldnt show up if u checked it on ure comp (like registing ure email on outlook) its like having to different accounts if u recieve it on one thing u wont on the other.
Thanks
as standard it only downloads the headers and even after you read the whole e-mail it leaves a copy on the server waiting for another program (outlook/mail etc) to do the main checking and removing.
as it only take a few seconds to check an account it doesn't really cost much as you pay for the data transferred not the time online.

I've successfully managed to send e-mail from my phone using a SMTP server, so it is possible (T-Mobile). I guess it must be an account setting like username/password that is failing or you have to use secure ports. Your outlook settings will tell you what you've used for your outgoing SMTP server. I know this may be stating the obvious but it's the only thing I can think of.
Which network operator are you using? Perhaps they restrict SMTP to 'their' servers only? Might be worth giving them a call..
