I have just finished formatting my 9290. I went back to install the MS viewers on my unit via the nokiausa.comsite. I noticed they where not available for download. So I checked nokia.com for the viewers under the 9210i page. I did find them there. After comparing the 9210i's to my 9290 files on the Getting Started CD, I noticed the ones on the site where larger in size. So I opened a chat with nokia... this is what they said about the viewers not being available from the site.
"This is what happened in your case. Some of the first 9290's that went out inadvertandly went out with the software for the 9210i.It is very likely that the disk you received actually had the software for the 9210i, which is not guaranteed to work with the 9290.You will not be able to download the viewers that you are looking for from Nokiausa because we don't have anything like that here in the US.You may, however download the viewers from Nokia.com, but like I said before the software is not guaranteed to work.
So, does anyone know of changes or updates for the ones available from the 9210i site?
Any 9290's out there with the MS viewers on the disk?
Thanks in advance!

tell me the SIS you need. i have all of them.
Mr.Shadow will take care of you!
Symbian Word on the 9210 opens MS Doc files - whats the point of having a viewer? Someone enlighten me, please. I tried the office viewer which came with my 9210 and didn't find it much good (there was loads of garbage and it was slow to load MS Docs).
I havnt used the viewers, I guess they were meant for viewing MS docs without losing any formatting whatsoever..
I installed all 5 of them I havent explored in depth, but a couple of friends of mine that didn't install the viewers can't open some files! I don't know what files...but I think it's something more!
read the package that comes with the cd, there's a file there that explains which file type can be opened by each viewer, file 1 opens ms word, excel and powerpoint. file 2 opens word and excel (i think), file 3 opens powerpoint (it is a redundancy to install 1, 2, 3 Godfather, be advised 😉 ) file 4 is for linux, file 5 is a gif viewer. I only installed file viewers 1 and 5... file 5 doesn't make you see animations though (it can also view other files, i have to check the cd)
😃

No problem. Actually I didn't realize how old this thread was until after I posted my response.
